Waiting after office interview

I got an interview for experienced tax hire at one of the big four firms.

The process started from a recruiter talked with me over the phone about my general background and interest. Then another recruiter followed up with me after a few weeks and I had a phone interview with the partner. I really like the partner although I haven’t met with him yet. He was super nice over the phone. Then I was scheduled with an office interview with 2 senior managers yesterday.

The first manager was very nice and and I can feel that he likes me. Then it comes the second manager, he asked me some of the questions I didn’t expect to explain too much but he seemed like he wanted to dig further. I showed him my ppt (from my folder) and he let me walk him through it. I just gave him a general idea of the ppt. (I didn’t expect that he would let me explain the ppt to him!). Time went by quickly and he basically rushed through the interview.

Not it starts the waiting game. I am very worried whether the second manager liked me. I can feel the first manager liked me and the partner liked me though.

Any comments or signals of what I should expect? Thank you!

Not that I want to scare you, I received a phone offer 5 hours later after the office interview. But sometimes an offer could come later than expected.

Did you send them a Thank You note?

I don't have the contact information for the two senior managers who interviewed me but I have the contact information of the partner who phone interviewed me. I sent the partner a feedback email saying that I really enjoyed the office visit although he didn't meet with me.

    Congrats on your offer!

Did you ask them to pass you their business cards?

Thank you note issue may not be that serious but sometimes matters. Also which big 4 firm is it?

I did ask but they didn't bring them so I didn't get business cards.

Ok. Then I guess there was nothing more you could do. Since you've completed a Big 4 interview now, you should be more confident. I hope you will get an offer.

Just as an FYI, when someone didn't have business cards during an interview, I've asked whomever I had contact information for if they could give me the email addresses. First it's a good way to know the contact (in this case the partner who phone interviewed you) read and responds to your email. Second it's a good way to let your contact know that you are in fact following through after the interview. And finally, getting a thank you email even though you did not provide a business card tells an interviewer that you are the one to make things happen even if you have to go out of your way.

I usually write down the first and last names of everyone I talk to (and if your interview was confirmed by email you may already have the names.) From there it's not hard to figure out the format of their email addresses (first.last@company.com or last.first@company.com) and get an email out.

It's jumping through hoops but part of what landed me my current job as my boss didn't have his business card on the day he interviewed me but still got a thank you within 3 hours.

Thank you! In the future I will do that. Is there anything I can do now btw? Thanks!

I am hesitant to just send email using the first last name format because if there are same names I will send to the wrong person! Trying to contact the HR or partner is not a bad idea but I don't want to offend them because maybe HR thinks the contact information is confidential?

I did send the partner an email just a few hours after the interview and gave him my feedback such as I enjoyed talking with the two senior managers although he didn't meet with me.

Anything else I can do now?

I'd contact HR. EMail addresses are not considered confidential, worst case HR just doesn't reply. I've never had someone who wouldn't give an email address for someone I've actually spoken to (it's not like you're some outsider just phishing for contact information.) you can always let them know after your interview you thought of a question you'd like to ask your interviewer about the job itself.
