I have already fulfilled and sent in my forms to NY board a couple weeks ago. I want to update my resume and apply to a new firm that I know is hiring. The question is what to write on my resume. I want to say CPA so they take notice of my resume but then again the last thing I want is to look like a liar. Is there an acceptable method to expressing situation? Thanks

You should see what your state board says. In VA you can only use the designation once your name is posted on a website. Until you meet whatever their requirements are, I would just put that you are a successful candidate awaiting licensing.

I would say something like “CPA license application pending.” They will still see the letters CPA if they do a search, but that way you're telling the whole truth.

    FAR: 84
    BEC: 88
REG: 33 (winged it, bad plan), 77
    AUD: 72 ,72, 81 FINALLY DONE!!!!!!

“CPA Exam Completed, Licensing Application Pending” or something along those lines.

Also, check the board website where you can lookup CPAs by name, I found my name on there a week or so before they notified me by mail. Once your name is online with a license number, you're a CPA and can use the designation.

Great advice above– if you put CPA and they look you up and see that you're not licensed, your resume goes in the trash, and they might even remember your name as a dishonest applicant, so you'd never be able to apply there again. So the pending application language suggested is perfect.

FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)
