Waiting for scores sucks

Score release isn’t for another 2 plus weeks, and I’m already getting impatient. I really don’t see why scores aren’t available right after you take the exam. With the possible exception of BEC, I think immediate results should be possible.

Scores can only be released for exams that are not curved.

Oh Wait, the AICPA claims the CPA exam isn't curved!

But of course they also state that the weight of questions depend on how other candidates do on them -_- (another way to say it is curved).

So they can't give the scores early since the exam is curved. You are judged against your peers.

But lol, I took my exam the first day I could… How do you think I feel!? I get twice your wait 🙁

Took REG 7/5…..It's a brutal wait. I'm glad they weight it against the other test takers. Those SIMs were out of control.

    AUD 2/25/14 - 82
    BEC 4/14/14 - 82
    REG 7/5/14 - 66, 80 (11/30/14)
    FAR 10/13/14 - 76
    ETHICS - PASSED
    EXPERIENCE - DONE

My suggestion is to take the exam the day before the end of the wave for score release. Shortest wait time. Waiting sucks.

I took AUD on July 3rd and usually I can keep from thinking about it for a while but no success lol. I think it's because it's my last exam and I just want this horrible journey to be over.

That being said, I think it's worth the wait if they are judging you against your peers and you pass as a result 🙂

I'm trying to study for AUD while I await my BEC score, which I took last Thursday. The wait makes studying very challenging because everyday I feel worse about how I might have done on BEC.

    Passed all sections.

I took REG last July or August and had to wait 5 weeks for my score… after that I always scheduled for the latest date possible for score release cut off!

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

The wait always sucks but waiting sucks even more when it's your last chance before losing a credit. I've had so much trouble with BEC and AUD that I'm down to my last chance for both. If I don't pass AUD then it's going to be very hard to continue studying for BEC knowing that I'll have to take REG again.

    REG - 78
    BEC - 74, 67, 69, 69, 70, 79
    FAR - 76
    AUD - 69, 69, 69, 74, 85

I never considered the score release timeline when scheduling my exams. I actually didn't know it existed, I figured they just took a couple weeks to grade your exam after whenever you took it and that was that. So I just scheduled exams to maximize my study time while still finishing when I wanted to finish. If only ANYTHING for this awful test could be so simple.

Now that I'm looking at the timeline I realize all of my tests were scheduled at awful times in test windows. I could have my audit score in 6 days instead of, like, 18 days, if I scheduled it a few days earlier. It's looking too late to reschedule audit without having to pay a fee, but I could easily reschedule my next 2 in october/november.

They aren't curving you against people who took the test in the same window, though, so it's not against your peers or curved in the traditional sense at all. It's scaled more than curved. They have collected a lot of data on each real question before you go take your test (that's what the pretest questions are for), so it's predetermined how many points each real question is worth. Then you get placed on a scale.

Jeff says in BEC Ninja Audio that they use batch processing for the CPA exam scores– probably helps with accuracy, data collection, and scoring/assessing pretest questions.

    But, yes, the waiting sucks!

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

No offense against any of you, but probably none of us know how it's graded / scored. We all have our ideas, but i'm sure none of us have ever had anyone privy to that info flat out tell us how its done. I'm not trying to be a jerk about it, just saying that the only way we'll know is if they tell us exactly how its done. I would beg though for someone to tell me why I can't know how I did against the test, not other candidates though. Seems like useless info to us if they already know point values.

I agree the waiting is awful… For me, I always torture myself the worst the 24 hours leading up to the release. By torture, I mean, no sleep, incessantly checking my score and the forum to see what others are saying about score release. I do have to say passing feels pretty good though. I'm having withdrawals from the high of passing… Must pass another exam soon!

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

GSU, the score release “official” schedule is on NASBA's website. The unofficial timeline for 3rd quarter has a thread in the forum.
