Hi,
Need some career advice. I am preparing for the accounting job fair in my school next month and needs to brush up my resume.
What are some common accounting skill sets that recruiter typically look for?
The problem I am facing right now is 1) I work in the government, and 2) I haven’t been working specifically in typical accounting setting, like tax, budgeting, account payable or account receivable.
I have been working between financial compliance and project management. My staffs do the basic accounting job and I just sign papers. The only thing I really do is conduct financial reviews and check all my client’s financial statements to make sure they are fairly right and they are using the money wisely. (But it’s not an audit, it’s something in between an audit and a review.)
I want to move toward the auditing field but I am unsure what recruiters are looking to see on a resume. I think audit will be my only chance as I have almost no experience in other accounting field.
Any suggestion or comments will be greatly appreciated!
Have a nice day!
