What are some of your hobbies (no pun intended for regulation studies)

I haven’t seen this type of thread and I’m curious if I’m the only oddball here that likes to read mythology and ancient manuscripts for fun, and get lost in Wikipedia for hours reading about the etymology of names in mythology.

Anyone else have an oddball hobby like that you could never figure out how to turn into a career? I also like reading about numbers and their qualitative meanings relative to cultures and people. I also have strange fascinations with symbols and dreams.

If anything…just list some of your hobbies so I can get a glimpse into your life and not feel like such a creep.

    Thanks…IT will help us study.

I passed reg with an 88 so don’t tell me to be an archaeologist or that I’m in the wrong field….everyone knows that accountants can be well read or have asbergian tendencies. It’s not a hindrance to be a nerd fig.

I used to do Jiu Jitsu and I use to play computer games on the computer I built. I still go hiking regularly.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

Study Monk…we're a lot alike. I game too and have built a computer or two in my day. When I pass this exam I'm going to get a cyberpowerpc with x79 socket 2011 motherboard for maximum mileage and upgradability.

I also did some martial arts. Thanks for chiming in. I feel better.

I kind of laughed when you said you used to play computer games because now you're probably studying all the time.

I like accounting because it has an answer and feels like mental gymnastics – which is good if you like to keep your brain fit.

I am hoping to pass all of my exams by May, so I can buy a new graphics card(gtx 780 ti). That is my incentive to keep on track, because I know it not a good idea to get it before I pass my exams.

That new titan is a beast. Did you set your rig up to overclock with extra fans and cooling and all that jazz? You're right, I think…it's a good idea to wait.

I haven't messed with the overclocking myself. I have a gtx580 that I bought already overclocked. I bought a medium size pc case, so the air flow isn't the best. When I'm a successful CPA in a year or two I might start over with a bigger case and water cooling.

I'll respond simply because I have time to respond now that I just finished exams. I haven't had much time to have any odd/weird hobbies in the past year or so. I have been known to look up random information about animals. I've also built a few computers.

Other than that, I work out regularly and play xbox/video games. Lately, I've spent more time than I should looking up weightlifting tips. That may be a little on the odd side for a female.

I wouldn't say that your hobbies are all that odd. It's fine to have various interests. The accountant I interned with was heavy into military tactics/strategy and he was never in the military. I thought that was a little different, but also interesting if you think about it.

I am a bookworm – unlike most women I don't like shopping unless it's at a bookstore (have had friends/family drag me out in the past for spending too much time there)

In my spare time I love to write historical fiction and I am also a collector of various items including stamps and coins (foreign and U.S.)

So glad that I can get back to these now that I have this beast of an exam behind me πŸ™‚

@10key The best weight lifting tip anyone can ever give you is keep a journal, and every time you approach a set make sure you do all you can do to get at least one more rep than the same set on your last workout session. For your body to improve it needs to do something it has never done before and adapt accordingly.
