Can you practice public accounting overseas? Like in Europe or Middle East?

@jcf175 – I am originally from that region, and I thought that was highly offensive. Just kidding, it was hilarious. I would consider Dubai though, it sounds like a liberal enough city…

I am Middle Eastern. I have no connections there so I don't know who to ask. So I thought I'd find someone here who works in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah or something.

I'm in the US for education and OPT (which is one year of full time work in the US, then I'll leave to my home country – United Arab Emirates- to work for a big 4 there).

I guess I could ask the CPA license experts in my firm, but I doubt they know. In my experience, HR and immigration ppl in big 4 are ignorant about things overseas.

By the way, I will only go back because the pay is more & 0 taxation, like the government doesn't claim anything out of your paycheck which is awesome. lol

You can hang your CPA license on the wall. It looks pretty good there.

Do you speak arabic? From what I understand, CPAs who are fluent in english and arabic can make bank in UAE. This is second-hand but I think it could be cool, especially if you are male.

I'm an Asian expat in the UAE for 8 years now but I don't speak Arabic. I hope to see some SIGNIFICANT changes career wise once I pass my last section.

Our Finance Director is a CPA, he is bilingual and his salary has almost doubled since he joined 5 years back. He came from Big 4 though.

I actually speak Arabic, English, and French – I kind of grew up in Geneva as my mom worked for the UAE embassy there- but my first language is Arabic. I'm just gonna send e-mails to relevant people in the office there (or just ping them). I need to plan my 2016 sooner rather than later. lol

Salaries are pretty high giving that the living expense is very low and no tax. I am not sure how much they get paid there, but I'm positive they are better off over there lol

@Last Chance CPA what's your background if you don't mind me asking? 🙂
