Hello everyone! New to this forum.

So, I just took BEC yesterday and I do not feel confident coming out of it. I wasn’t able to finish all the written communication and some of the calculations seemed out of left field. I recognized some of them but they seemed to add different variables that weren’t really mentioned in RogerCPA, especially things like break-even analysis. It seemed like the test had more questions on my weaker points than stronger. I actually had every subject down besides one (COSO) and unfortunately that one was heavily tested haha. Had no idea one section would be tested so hard. I reviewed with RogerCPA. Put in a ton of time studying too, like a TON, but I definitely should of supplemented my studies, I feel.

So, the people who have take BEC, what was the method you used to attack the test and what worked best for you? Just studying the multiple choice questions or? And did you supplement your studies with some other review course, especially those who used RogerCPA. Which worked best for COSO? Lastly, did you focus a ton on written communication and exactly how much study time did you put in?

For COSO I read the WIlley book.

I feel most confident about that chapter out of all. Scored 95% when I first did corporate governance in ninja MCQ too.

What review course did you use? Since I already have bought the rogers material is it necessary to purchase any other books or just stick to the MCQ? Just seems like information overload. So many things I can supplement rogers with haha. Besides the MCQ, should I supplement my study with anything else?

I bought gleim after a few chapters of Roger. I wasn't learning the material from him for some reason for this section. IMO Roger has enough to pass, but only if you master EVERYTHING he covers. I used roger a few years ago at a failed half assed attempt of taking the exam, and after taking BEC and FAR this time, he doesn't feel up to par anymore. I would not have passed far with only Roger. I got a 79 after going through his book and videos (mcq as well) twice as well as >1000 mcqs from gleims test bank

For REG I plan to use the gleim book/mcq and Rogers cram course for the videos. When I used Roger the first time, he was using Wiley as his MCQ bank. He dropped Wiley and really didn't fill the void well at all I don't think. I hate his MCQs and his book… too bad the cheapest way to get his videos is the cram

See, that's where I feel I went wrong! I took BEC and the calculations definitely had many concepts not covered in Roger. Yes the questions definitely seemed less challenging and his COSO section did not prepare me well for the BEC test. His questions were lacking in COSO area too. I was very disappointed.

So, you'd recommend I supplement my studies with other MCQ and another review book?

Moeshow, you also feel that Roger was not enough for BEC? I'm taking the exam on Nov 30, and I had to supplement his course with Wiley test Bank, and a bit of ninja test bank. I don't think his test bank is enough.

@martin! So you're only supplementing your study material with MCQ and no other books or notes? I thought it was enough until I took the exam! You're definitely a smart man for supplementing your studies with other material. Everyone was telling me to supplement my study material but I thought I'd first try taking BEC and see how it went. I studied intensely, like crazy, and still felt like Roger wasn't enough when I took the exam. So I learned my lesson: 1. Use other study material 2. practice the written communication a bit more.

Which did you like better ninja or wiley?

Moeshow, If you don't want to feel lost in space, you can supplement it with WTB. After you star getting above 85 on WTB, you can try ninja. I don't think you need extra material if you use the mentioned test banks. He is great for Audit, if you supplement his lectures with WTB and Ninja. I have not seen a better Audit professor in my life, and I think is his strong subject. You might do better than you think if you really mastered his lectures.

I used Roger CPA ONLY and scored a 70. The next time around I used Roger and Ninja MCQ and passed with 77 I think (it's below). I only did about 350 Ninja MCQ's BUT I really focused on my weak areas. I studied 3 weeks the 2nd time while working full time (50+ hours a week) and managed to scrape by. I think Ninja MCQ is the winning formula for BEC. Roger's MCQ has changed and I have begin to like it but it's good to have a 2nd bank and Ninja's is the most affordable at $47 and if you use his hiya code it's 15% off. With that said, IMO, on BEC you should be able to pass with Roger/Ninja MCQ.

@Martin. Thanks so much martin. So you used WTB and Ninja test bank to supplement your studies? Would you recommend that for all sections?
Yes, I heard he's killer on audit!

Definitely let me know how you do on your BEC exam on the 30th!

@THendry thank you!!!! I think I might run into the same issue. I feel I scored around the 65-70 area, especially since I did not finish the written communication portion. I heard so many people supplementing with other review books so I wasn't sure if I should do the same. I think I might just supplement with ninja MCQ and go from there…maybe add the notes if needed.

I scored a 76 using 2012 Yaeger lectures, 2012 Wiley textbook and 2016 Wiley test bank. Probably would have scored higher had I spent more time working MCQs in the test bank.

You really should wait until you get your score.

I used Gleim and Ninja MCQ. I didn't study for one second the written part.
