What I wish I knew when I started

First off, I’d like to preface this by saying thank you to Jeff and the Ninja community for all of your support for the last year or so. Last night I found out I had passed reg, and am officially done with the exam. I cannot tell you how many times I found myself on A71 reading threads about staying positive, cash flows, AMT and everything in between.

I just wanted to stop by and write down a few thoughts that may be helpful to anyone still in the fight.

    1) You can pass this thing. Its very doable. While it may not always seem that way, when you couple studying hard off with having a relentless will to pass, you will do just that.

    2) Keep a small notebook by your side when you are doing MCQ’s. For every question you get wrong. Jot down the rule or equation. You will remember it the next time. I failed FAR until I started doing this and added 15 points to my score on the next try. I kept with up this technique and did much better on my final 3 exams.

    3) Find time for yourself. Whatever it may be. I would take naps on weekends in the middle of the day when I was in the thick of it. It helped my mind rest and kept me fresh. You can study 24 hours a day but chances of you actually absorbing the material while your tired is a long shot.

    4) Find what motivates you and remind yourself of why you are doing this.

Once again, thanks Ninja’s! I hope some of you find this helpful, as you all have helped me so much through this exam!

Congratulations Study_friend! I found that giving yourself a break every now and then helps. When I studied for Audit, I hammered my way through and felt so burnt out for a couple of weeks after the exam. I'm currently studying for FAR and it helps if I take breaks in between to work out or do some light household chores.

I myself am very thankful to have found another71 community. It keeps me in track of my goals and be able to talk to people who are going through what I'm going through.

    Again, congratulations and good luck!
