What is the greatest CPA job in the world?

    So…if you are a marketing genius, or aspiring to be one, you would want to work at Facebook, Uber, Airbnb, etc. If you are into logistics, supply chain, and marketing, you would want to work at Amazon. If you are a tech person, you would want to be at Microsoft or Google. These are just non-mutually exclusive examples.

    If you are CPA, what’s the greatest job in the world? And how would you tailor your resume for such a job?

    Well Big 4 are the jobs to be at for a CPA but I wouldn't call them the greatest job in the world. Other than that you can leverage it into controllers or fp&a role in pretty much any company.

    I expected that answer – ha. Big 4 is great experience, but I would hardly call it the greatest job in the world. I used to work at KPMG in tech enablement, and may try to go back once I complete my CPA exams. Big 4 doesn't really seem to care about my pending CPA because I have had a 10 year career in IT consulting…and I am a manager.

    The greatest cpa or any job, is short/no commute, flexible schedule, about 35 to 45 hours a week, and great co workers. AND LIMITED TRAVEL! In my opinion the work is secondary of you have a great work environment. With that said I would love to be an adjunct at a community college and do financial work for small businesses /individuals from my home.

    Isn't the greatest CPA job to be the CFO of a huge company? I kind of figured that's what everyone was going for.

    I'm thinking lately that I might just like to try and become a partner at a good sized local firm. It would feel pretty great to have my name on the door somewhere.

    My background before I decided to study accounting was in music and in radio, so my dream job would involve merging accounting and music together. Whether it is being an accountant with a company like iHeart Media, or working for a small CPA firm that provides accounting and tax services to independent musicians and their labels. Quite frankly, if I landed a job like that I could see myself doing it for the rest of my life.

    @tcheney3 – You didn't send anything.

    I guess I meant what is a great CPA job to start your journey, or early on in your career… Google, Facebook, Uber, LinkedIn, Airbnb, etc are a young man/woman's dream if you are a techy or in marketing, or maybe supply chain. The CPA journey is a longer journey with an end game, accordingly to folks on this forum. CFO, CEO, Controller, etc. I get it. And I guess we have to stay industry-agnostic…

    @Last Chance. Unfortunately, we accountants don't have any sexy companies in which we can start out. Sure, Google, Facebook, etc need accountants but they require experience and like to hire out of Big 4. I've looked into some start-ups, but they too like more experience than I have at present. You hit the nail on the head when you said we have a longer journey. Not taking anything way from people who work in other disciplines. They go through their own trials and tribulations to achieve their goals too.
