    SITUATION:

I have barely scratched the surface of BEC and I have minimal time left. I’m aware of Jeff’s 20 day study plan during busy season, but waking up early is a struggle for me. The reason I haven’t gotten far with BEC is because my grandmother passed away in the past week. On top of that, my wife has been dealing with severe postpartum depression which has been going on for over a month. It’s probably why I didn’t pass FAR this window. I need your help on deciding on how I should attack these last 20 days or if I should just focus on work and study for my FAR retake through the blackout month. My first and only credit (REG) expires January 2017 leaving me with the other three parts to pass still. This has been a stressful start to 2016. Obtaining my CPA would definitely make it a good year. Thanks for any insight that you may have.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother and your wife. Personally if it was me, and if my NTS for BEC did not expire for a few months, I would get back to FAR. You seem to be building momentum on FAR and it may take mastering a few large topics to push you over the 75. I have taken BEC twice and failed it, this is my 3rd attempt and if I don't pass it I lose FAR.

BEC is really all over the place and you can't build on topics, it has been frustrating to say the least. I think during busy season for you and with all that life has handed you lately it may be best to focus on FAR and tackle that huge hurdle. Also FAR has topics that you will see in BEC so it would be helpful to you when studying BEC as well. I would retake FAR the first of the new window and schedule BEC for the end of that window. If you really focus and re-commit you can do it. Best of Luck!

i concur. with everything that has come up sticking with and building up for retake will be less stressful since you already have a knowledge base. i hope your wife starts to feel better soon and the new baby is doing well. i am sorry for your loss of your grandmother. best wishes to you and post when you need help or support.
