I want to say that I'm in the staff position that you are starting tomorrow. I'm a staff auditor at a firm with about 75 employees. First of all, chill out. I know many nervous people don't like hearing that but it's true. Even with 2 years as an accountant in private, it is very different compared to public.

First day, if not, first couple of days is all training, orientation, and getting to the know the people at the firm. First day, one of the partners/directors treated the department to lunch. Mostly everyone goes so you can meet everyone. Since it is a small firm, I spent the first 3 days training with a senior and manager, and by Thursday, I was tasked with beginning an ERISA audit. I'm pretty sure that you're going to learn about that in a few days too since we are in the middle of ERISA season.

My advice is to be cordial with everyone, bring a notepad everywhere since you'll be a sponge for most of the year (take notes on everything), and most of all, don't be late. Since you already passed FAR, you're probably ahead of the curve than some people at the firm. Good luck with everything. If you have further questions, keep asking.

    AUD - 83

Try not to be overly enthusiastic because people can be mean and hate on that, lol. This is from personal experience. I have been on both ends!
