NINJAs! I start my career in Public Accounting as a Staff Auditor for a CPA firm. I am nervous that I they might ask me a bunch of questions that they expect me to know right off the bat. I have a Masters and Bachelors in Accounting but i’ve forgotten most of the stuff. Is there anything I should be doing to prepare for my first day? Any advice please?

You'll be fine. Like any job, you'll learn most of it as you go along so don't worry about it.

I'd echo the above. I'm wrapping up year two of doing this and about to start my third busy season and you really will learn as you go. As long as you understand debits/credits and their impact on balance sheet/income statement accounts you should be able to follow the audit programs. Just be professional and courteous with the clients.

I asked my current employer a similar question to this when I interviewed, because I wanted to know I'd be trained. They basically expect you to know nothing. There's no way to have any auditing experience straight out of school. They don't expect you to know anything, they just want you to take what you're taught and apply it and build on your progress. congrats on the job.

Thanks guys for the insight! I was worried because the partner hired me even though the ad said 2-5 years of experience so i was like yeah they are gonna expect a lot from me.
