What to put down for desired salary for audit position with KPMG?

    Hello everyone ,

I am currently applying as an experienced hire with KPMG for an audit associate position. I have 2 years of accounting experience and am currently salaried at $48,000. Looking on glassdoor the average audit associate salary in my area is $56K. I was thinking about asking for $54,300, but then I realized that it might be too high. I was even thinking about $52,230, which is low but reasonable to me because commuting to their office will tack on a $3000 annual bridge toll expense for me. So I am a little confused about what to do.

I should mention that I have already had a screening call with their recruiter and she had asked me what salary I would accept, and I said I would like to have a range between 54,000 to 58,000, and I don’t think this has turned them off from me yet, but now I am second guessing myself.

What would be a reasonable salary to request for an audit position at a big 4 in the SF bay area? Thank for your answers!

You should be asking for more than $54k. I just graduated and am working at a Big 4 in SF and am making that amount.

That definitely makes me feel better. I'll have to do some more digging to see what would be reasonable.

Desired Salary is what it is…they arne't going to say no, just because you wrote some pie in the sky number. 56k sounds great.

    REG- (1) 76
    FAR- (2) 64, (5)74, (7)83 (Over achiever!)
    AUD- (3) 70, (4) 75
    BEC- (6) 75

write ‘negotiable', imo. if you write a starting salary too high, they may not call you to come in for an interview. if you write a number too low, they'll be happy to under pay you, and you just screwed yourself

try to find out what range kpmg pays for that position, and then google ‘how to negotiate salary'.

I agree with the above poster (refuse to say I agree with “omgjustinbieber”) in that you could put negotiable. In the past I've also typed/written “open”. That puts the ball in their court and you can start from there.

Since you already gave a range of $54-58K, I would put $58K. I don't think that amount is anywhere close to unreasonable.

As an experienced hire w/ 3 1/2 years of audit experience, I started at KPMG office at $57,000..just an hour south of Boston. don't low ball yourself. I'm not sure what state you're in.

Yeah, starting salaries for big 4 start as low as $44,000. Some areas might be lower, but that is the lowest that I've seen. It really depends on your area/region though – you applying in SF will probably be on the high end of the salary range.
