Pretty sure you should have been looking last fall or last spring, unless you know somebody with leverage.

It may depend on the location. Im already on contract for Sept 2013, got grad school beforehand.

    FAR - 11/3/2012
    BEC - 1/2013
    AUD - 2013
    REG - 2013

    You have two choices:

    1) Go into hiring this fall at your alma mater as an alumni (with the presumption that you graduated when you did and have been unemployed since then). This is a tough choice, but depending on how (pardon my language) “lame” your AR job is, this may be a worthwhile option. When I say lame, I mean will it make you look bad? Will being in that AR job make people wonder why you couldn't do better before? This is another option to place your candidacy, and one to consider.

    2) Go in as you are, someone who graduated and went into an AR job but now wants to get into public. Your biggest hurdle here will be, why couldn't you do better when you graduated? Regardless of that, why public now? What have you learned that sparked your interest?

Both options will be tough, so you'll have to decide which gives you the best shot. In either case, you should be applying and recruiting soon. Interviews are generally in September-November frame, so it's coming up fairly soon.

    Go get it!!!
