If you are in the the top 50%, you and everyone else (those that fall in the 50%-100% ranges) earn 87% of all income and pay 98% of all taxes.

So…should everyone (i.e. the bottom 50%) being paying SOMETHING or is it more “fair” to simply tax the top 1%? I contend that EVERYONE should be making a contribution or they should not be allowed to vote (because typical human nature says those in the cart will vote to ensure our elected representatives are those willing to tax the people pulling the cart).

Everyone paying something would help ensure our elected representatives have everyone’s best interests in mind rather than simply pandering to the “takers” for votes.

I think we need a surtax on incomes earned by politicians and their cronies. It is the politicians that screw up the tax code so they should pay more taxes.

Of course, my idea will never get anywhere with our politicians.
