Hi
In your opinion, which of the Big 4 companies is the best in terms of money, culture, reputation? I heard that E&Y has a younger, friendlier and more social culture. I have a friend who works for KPMG and she is always stressed about the workload and the compensation. I heard PWC people are "snobbish" haha. I dont know anybody who works for Deloitte.

It is difficult to say if one is better than the other. The compensation typically depends on what office you are joining and I believe is set by the individual office. Im a KPMG alumni of Advisory Services and although there was a lot of work, when we got slow it was very slow. I thought the training was excellent as they would require you to national training every year for a week where you were able to pick and choose what kinds of courses you would like to take. In my opinion I felt that Deliotte was more focused on consulting engagements and systems implementations. However I also think that it depends on what clients are in your area and what clients each of the 4 have in your area. I would see alot of people leave to go to work for one of our clients that would offer them a job.

Each firm differs in each office they have (and to an extent even service lines). Certain firms are dominant in certain markets just by clients, size, etc. Each is perceived similarly from the outside though. Not even people within accounting would know about all the other firms clients in their own city, so it's doubtful that a potential employer outside of public would know or even care. The prestige of your resume will be similar across the firms, so take your pick if you have a choice.
