BEC has less material yet it took my 4 tries, REG it took me just 1.

BEC is harder for whatever reason. I think its because of the writing section.

It's different for everyone. I thought BEC was relatively easy, but thought REG was the devil.

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂

BEC seemed much harder to me, but that might have been because I left it until last.

Statistically speaking, It seems like BEC was the easiet section to pass.

    AUD -46.89

    BEC-52.83

    FAR-47.97

    REG-48.15

This is the passing rate from last according to AICPA.

I passed BEC the first time without studying too much and failed REG miserably (again, didn't study much). So it just depends on what you find easiest, but as an above poster stated BEC has a little bit higher of an average pass rate. And you're probably asking because you are trying to decide which one to take next, so I would say take the one which you think would be easiest, that way when you pass it you will have more motivation to study the next parts and get them over with.

    AUD-Failed (Waiting for Score)
    BEC-PASSED (First try)
    REG-Failed (Retake February 2013)
    FAR-Failed (Retake January 2013)

REG is like drinking a 100 year old bottle of Cabernet Savignon, while BEC is like drinking piss.

    It's finally freaking over.

Depends on your strengths. I took BEC twice and have taken REG 3 times. If you aren't a strong writer (aka BSer), BEC might be harder for you. DEFINITELY use the ninja notes for BEC. They help wonders. Good luck!

    AZ
    AUD - 10/20/2011 - 77
    BEC - 7/28/2012 - 79
    FAR - 4/6/2013 - 79
    REG - 4/18/2013 - 75 (3rd time's a charm!)

I passed REG on my first try. When I took BEC I was so lost it felt like the exam was in another language. BEC is deceptively difficult. Of course everyone is different on what they find hard. This is what the AICPA shows as the Q1 2013 pass rates. I'm shocked to see BEC so much higher.

    AUD – 45.19%

    BEC – 53.47%

    FAR – 47.16%

    REG – 47.57%

    REG - 78
    BEC - 74, 67, 69, 69, 70, 79
    FAR - 76
    AUD - 69, 69, 69, 74, 85

I thought REG was relatively easy and I'm sure that I didn't perform well. I thought BEC was medium difficulty, and I did okay. FAR was the toughest thus far – primarily because of the amount of material covered.

As others have said, it depends on the candidate and his/her strengths/weaknesses/background. For example, with BEC I didn't really have any experience with cost accounting (my managerial accounting course counted as cost) but I have an MBA and knew the economics and finance stuff, and that's what carried me through. As for REG… yes, a tax background gives you somewhat of an advantage but I don't think it's as pronounced as some people believe; you're going to get quite a few questions regarding material that you might not even see one time during a particular tax season and the business law stuff is generally unfamiliar territory for most everyone.

REG and BEC will consume all my time this summer, so I hope neither are that bad!

I vote BEC because that is the only one I got a cursed 74 on!! Plus I like tax so Reg is one of my favorites 🙂

I felt that REG was harder than BEC because I hate taxes, but I was nearly 8 months pregnant when I took it. Sounds weird considering I passed with my highest score. I think the baby wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to go through that again and brought me luck.

    AUD - 78
    BEC - 76
    FAR - 75
    REG - 82
1 cat, 2 kids, 3 dogs. Best mediocre runner ever.

    AUD 2/2011 76 (lost credit), 2/2013 71, 7/2013 78
    REG 2/2012 82
    BEC 2/2013 75
    FAR 4/2013 75

5 years in private accounting, < 1 year in public accounting. Runner, mommy, dog and cat lover. SO glad I took the exam before I went to public accounting.
