I took Regulation on Jan 14, 2013. I am planning to take the next section in May. Which section should I take next? (I heard I should take Audit before the second half year, Is that true? What material should I use for the particular section you recommend. (I am choosing between Wiley and Becker).

Yes, you should take Audit by May 31st. Starting July 1, those who take Audit will be tested on the new rules. I use Becker and I really like it, but that is the only study material I have used so I don't know if it is better than Wiley or not.

Depending on the amount of time you have to study I would probably study for FAR. You seem to be waiting a solid amount of time between tests. AUD will not take you long to study for and you could be ready to pass it by the end of this testing period. I wouldn't take too long off from studying because then you lose your habits.

I have been extremely successful with using Becker self study materials and their flash cards. They break things down very well. However, each person has their own personal comfort level with each “brand”.

If it were me, I would take AUD at the end of February and schedule FAR for May. If you fail AUD, you can push FAR back to Q3 and retake AUD instead, but I would at least give it a shot.

As for material, Wiley is my best friend, but I've never used anything else.

    FAR - 79 - 07/2012
    AUD - 65, 78 - 11/2012
    BEC - 76 - 11/2012
    REG - 78 - 01/2013
    ETH - 98 - 01/2013

    Material: Wiley books

I use Becker and love it. I would suggest taking AUD, because, like the previous people have said, new material is going to start being tested, and your review course will be much more effective if you take it prior to the changes, since the review courses are based on historical information for the most part.

How much did you pay for Becker Keely? Were you able to get a price break?

Jeff, I think, for the entire course, I paid $3500. Very, very big chunk of change. And I wasn't working when I bought it, so no, I didn't get a price break (except the ‘break' they give you for buying all four sections together instead of separately…ha).

I supplemented my BEC studying with Ninja Notes and Wiley Test Bank, and found the questions on WTB overlapped with Becker a lot, which is good because it was super cheap, so Wiley would be a good option for people who can't have/don't want Becker. I also used Ninja Audio for AUD and found it awesome to listen to on my drives from Texas to Virginia (yes..TX to VA. Long way!). I also made use of CPAReviewForFree.com for BEC and AUD, but their questions can be tough, and by REG, I was too afraid to even look at it anymore.

I know I rave about Becker a lot on here, but it was just the review course I ended up with and I have never seen a question on an exam that hadn't been covered in Becker, at least to some degree, so I am very partial to it. I do know it isn't for everyone and sometimes I get frustrated with it because they don't give you detailed explanations for a lot of stuff, but I've found the more I keep at it, the more I fill in the blanks for myself, and I think I retain the information better that way.

I know that was way more information than you asked for, I am just throwing it out there! πŸ˜‰
