Hi All, I just passed all the exams and wondering is it required that only active CPA can sign the experience verification form?

Can anyone help on this issue? Did anyone get VA license with experience verification signed by non-CPA supervisor?

    Congratulations, Jami! That's wonderful.

I had the same question, as the language on the VBOA site is somewhat ambiguous; so I emailed Mary Charity for clarification and, according to her, the person who signs the form does not have to be a CPA.

Thank you so much! Do you know whether there is any requirements for the company? I'm not working for public accounting firm and my supervisor is not CPA. Will it be fine?

I would think so – the site says “….employed in academia, a firm, government, or industry in any capacity involving the substantial use of accounting, bla bla y bla” , but email VBOA if you're worried. They're very responsive and helpful, and the worst they can do is say no.

Hi Allegra! Congratulations! Thank you for your response. How soon you get your license after you submit your application?

I got my license number within about two weeks in Virginia! I had to nudge a few times because I sent in documents that were not showing as received. But as soon as I chatted with a representative, they fixed it! Congrats on being done!

Jami, it took a while because there were issues with my credit hours and transcripts but I would say once I got that all sorted it it was less than 48 hours.
