I did too :D
We're going to need proof...sorry, but those are the rules (that I just made up). :)
So I just had to wear red panties!!!!! I did not know that!!!! And you say this NOW!!!!
Red panties on the 28th for sure!!!!!
I'm not wearing any panties but I believe I have some drawers that are red.....they are going with me on the 27th!
Just for you @jjm1181!
That's me in my red panties. That's why they call me Peanut LOL!!!!! Aw man I wanted the pic to show right up so you didn't have to click on it
hahaha. I literally typed into google "fat chick with red panties." Just for jjm1181.
I did!!!!!! They are going with my when I tackle FAR next!!!
Offtopic - Would it be weird if I asked the Prometric girl out? She's scanned me in the last couple times and always gives me hard time (no pun intended). I've managed to crack a few jokes even when I'm in test mode.
Lol money. I say go for it. AFTER your exam though. Come out and say something like, "I totally nailed it in there. Want to grab some dinner and I'll show you how I did it?"
I wore a pair of worn out boxers and passed! C'mon guys, we need a trend for all the dudes out there.
Red is definitely not a color that I like.....I prefer to wear black boxers..lol...
" She's scanned me in the last couple times and ""always gives me hard time (no pun intended)""" made me laugh lol
bhahaha Peanut! I didn't and obviously why I didn't pass AUD - damn SIMS I tell ya! Ok red panties on the 27th and the rest of these god forsaken exams! AHHHHHHHHH.....
@Cash...just tell her you need some tax exemptions..... :)
I guess I'll be borrowing some of my wife's on that day cause I'll do whatever it takes to pass FAR on the 29th.
Love the pic Peanut!!! I laughed so hard!!!!!
So my husband asked.....is that all you wore was red panties?????
After you ask her out, let me/us know what she says :D im curious, haha!!
i did.... well not panties... boxers.
Seriously? Please don't tell me that possible future CPAs actually looking into correlation between red panties and passing the test.
Seriously? One of our fellow cyber family members suggested wearing red because in their culture wearing red represents good luck. I love when people pass all of their exams, then come back acting high and mighty. If someone told me that doing a tequila shot--standing on my head, would help me pass, I would do it. Thanks.
Can't wait to wear my new red panties for BEC, lol. :-)
Ouu Tootsie bought new ones? So fancy! I'm sure @jjm1181 will want to see a picture LOL
@Peanut, lol. Yeah, I remember that post. :-P
You get them!! I plan on wearing red panties next time!
@money & mini
I love the raunchy talk yall are cracking me up!!
Speaking of prometric people. There is this guy at the one I go to that annoys the living hell out of me! The past 2 times I went in there I was praying he didn't work that day or got fired...no such luck...
@Tootsie, I'm testing the 25th too! I need to kick AUD @ss so I can be done forever!
@Peanut, you can do it! Hey, is your avatar a picture of yourself?
Yes LOL. It's a picture of me on Halloween, big white afro and a fur vest
did you get my email? lol i've asked like 5 times.
Cool! LOL! I wore a huge, white, curly wig and pajamas one Halloween. Went as an old woman - had saggy boobs, saggy butt...Hahahah. The wig glowed in the dark too!
@hopeful_cpa, yes I did! I responded back to you about your score. Thank you for your notes. Did you get my attachment too?!
@Tootsie,--LOL that's really awesome.. I wish mine could glow in the dark!
i could have sworn i got that now that i remember... my brain has been elsewhere all day unfortunately... but now i cant find that email lol i got the attachment, thanks, i'll take a look at it in march when i get back into aud mode **shoot me now please**
AWESOME! I'm glad the Red Panty Revolution is alive and kicking even though I've been forced to take a hiatus from A71.
Peanut, thanks for defending the red panties. I didn't appreciate the snide remark from the other poster, but it's good to know some people understand the concept of a ritual/superstition.
Again, SOO proud! I hope everyone else using the red panties kicks butt!!! Good luck all and congrats to everyone who got passing scores!
Am I the only person who is jealous that KasiaS wasn't here to give the red panty advice some 18 months ago when I first started the exams? lol! Geez I was practically done when I learned this. Would have saved me a few retakes.......
Can anyone really confirm that wearing red panties work? If it does, I will stop studying and just wear red panties on test day. I reckon it'll be uncomfortable for me, but hey, if it helps me pass, I'm all for it. ;)
LMAO @ CPAMAN!
I didn't wear red panties. It's against my religion lol jk
I had my own ritual. I took all 4 of my exams on a Sunday....and I wore big comfy clothing....like sweatpants and an oversized shirt. I wanted to be comfortable if I was going to be in that seat for 4 hours haha
@CPAMan, for what it counts, I've been using these red panties for all midterms, finals, and other major exams since high school. I've been pretty much a straight A student all throughout HS and college. Graduated Summa Cum Laude as one of the top 25 students in the graduating class. I also passed all 4 sections of the CPA on first attempt. By no means am I that bragging, just a testament to my red panties although to DO NOT advocate wearing the panties in lieu of actual studying. It's just a very handy gooc luck charm. It's worked for me for almost 10 years.
All that I can say about this thread is the same thing we say in the fishing and hunting forums.....PICS or it didn't happen! :D
Hey you ladies (or very very adventerous men) who have passed, you guys could do something like that dumb movie....Traveling sisterhood of the yah yah pants or whatever that movie was (about all the people who handed down and wore the pants and what happened in their lives). Don't blame me, I was forced to watch it. You guys could pay it forward and share the red panties! :D
Couldn't help myself.
CPApending we're all going to chip in and get you some lithium. You're welcome ;)
I'll pass on sharing the red panties, lol.
I've been asked before to hand down my magical pair, but I just think panties are the one article of clothing that should definitely not be shared regardless of how many times you've washed them. Besides, mine are so old and worn, I doubt anyone would want them now.
I'm happy to share the tradition and advice but that's as far as I can take my sharing attitude :)
does it make a difference if the red panties are thongs, boy shorts or granny panties? Do skid marks add more luck?
I can't testify to the types of panties. Mine are bikini, low cut sans skid marks. Do what you may with that information. :)
Well this thread is digressing and I cannot help but think it is all my fault! :D
I am totally going out and buying red panties now.
LMAO is all I have to say. :-P
Sat for my audit test today and i made sure i wore my red panties, so there....that say moving on to FAR.
:D this is interesting -
lol i will make sure i wore it and pass FAR.. he he he
I actually wore red boxers - not by choice and I think I failed.
I know the tradition is red panty. But I'm switching up to GREEN. I like seeing the green bar on my Wiley exam scores much better than the red. Going with the whole visualization/The Secret movement now.
@Jeff no shave CPA exam!! I like it, hopefully I pass the exam next week so I won't need to participate!
Now that I think of it... I've been pretty stubbly for all of my exams. Not intentionally, but just because I had better things to do in that last week of studying. Maybe Jeff is on to something!
Don't shave until I pass?
I am ....
First two tests= no red panties. Failed.
Last four tests= red panties. Passed.
I started mentally referring to them as my CPAnties.
I don't own any panties, red or otherwise... maybe my wife will let me borrow a pair. I'm just not sure what I'd say if she asked me why...
hahaha this is a funny thread. Put a bunch of people together all under an excruciating amount of pressure and funny stuff pops up. I'm not superstitious but I find the idea of sharing a common superstition on test day interesting. I haven't taken one yet, still mapping out my plan but I think little things like this might help take the edge off come exam day. Taking the edge off is half the exam day prep battle...
Crazy, silly, superstitious, whatever, it worked for me!!! Wore the panties and got an 85 on audit. That and studying my butt off... But I studied my butt off for FAR twice with a resulting 74 both times sans red panties... I will be wearing them for my rematch at the end of the month. Yes, the cpa exam has turned me into someone who believes in lucky underwear.
Hmmm this is interesting, however, I wonder what the true success rate of the red panties is...66 posts about how they "helped" people pass, but how many wore their best valentines day special butt floss and tanked the exam? Who's gonna step up?? :)
Red Panty BEC = 74
Red Panty AUD = 73
Red Panty FAR = 74
Tighty whiteys, jeans and an ARMY T-Shirt from my big bro stained with Hawaiin red dirt from all of his hard work:
AUD = 97
I did!! It was the trick that helped me pass BEC!! 76!!
I wonder how long before this thread helps someone pass and also gets them fired.
AUD tomorrow. i'm so wearing red panties!
anything to help me pass!!
Sadly... My wife did not let me borrow her red panties for REG, but miraculously I managed to pass anyway! : P
Wore red panties (with white polka dots) and passed BEC with a 76. I didn't get my AUD score, but wore red panties and left the testing center with a BIG smile on my face!
Wore red panties for AUD for the 4 times I took it and failed. Just took it for a 5th time last Saturday and wore yellow panties this time. Maybe yellow panties are my good luck charm...we'll see come 2/22.
Anyone else just like reading the word "panties" posted by various members over and over in this thread?
Now that's what I'm talkin about, MCLKT. Nice score. I think this thread is a perfect example of the correlation vs causation fallacy. Smart individuals who just studied hard, but attributed their success instead to panties. Placebo effect, perhaps? The mind is a powerful tool. Congrats to everyone that passed!
While I agree that one's apparel has no effect on one's knowledge, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it doesn't affect one's exam performance. I'm not suggesting that red panties will compensate for a lack of preparation, but never underestimate the power of the human mind. If we believe something strongly enough, it can have a physical effect on us. For example, someone wears a particular color believing that it is lucky, they increase their confidence and comfort in a stressful situation, and thus improve their performance.
I wore the same red shirt and clothes to the test 3 times and all 3 times I passed. I also put a ton of work each time into each test, but if I'm passing with those clothes, I'm not wearing anything different. ....lol
I'm going to quote my post because I don't think you read it in its entirety: "placebo effect, perhaps? The mind is a powerful tool". I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you just didn't read the entire post rather than you read it but didn't understand that it was the exact thing you just posted. In case you're not familiar with the placebo effect, it essentially states that if a person is given a sugar pill but is told it is a pain reliever, he/she may feel better just because they believe what they're taking is going to cure their malady. What I said is there is no CAUSAL relationship between the two events. So no, red panties didn't help you pass and they will never be the reason you pass, but if you want to strap those bad boys on, rub your lucky rabbits foot, chuck some salt over your shoulder, and hop 6 times on each leg alternating every third hop, before you take the exam, go for it.
Actually, I did read your entire post. Furthermore, I am quite familiar with the placebo effect. You stated that the effect is a fallacy. It is not. It can have a "causal" effect, even if it's an indirect effect.
By the way, I don't know if this was your intention, but you come off as pretentious and abrasive.
You're wrong. This isn't a matter of opinion. Look it up...confusing causation with correlation is, in fact, a fallacy. I am extremely abrasive...it's kind of my thing. Well if you read my post but just didn't understand, then I'll chalk it up to just not being that sharp.
Ha true that. I'm out of the thread. Restating position: if panties help you pass, it's mind over matter...they are not the reason (i.e., causal).
I don't believe it is for all "participants" when I see statements like, "anything to help me pass".
For what it's worth, placebo effect USUALLY refers to the brains mental ability to overcome some sort of physical issue. You are feeling pain and think you took an advil? Your brain compensates and just doesn't feel the pain (it is a mental alert, after all). I think the effect of the red painties is one of confidence and to a certain extent stress relief. So while I would NEVER believe that wearing red boxers could actually help me pass the exam from a knowledge perspective, wearing them COULD benefit my performance due to lower anxiety and greater confidence. I think that's the point that Noct was trying to make and it is really very different from a placebo effect. At any rate, none of this matters, please end the pissing match now. This is supposed to be a silly fun thing.
went thru becker 2x. completed 1300+wiley mc's till i got them right. wrote ninja notes 3x. made countless note cards. heard audio course while driving kids to from school, to and from activities.
AND for kicks wore red panties to the exam.
yup "anything to help me pass"
i kicked some AUDITING ass today!!!! thanks to my red panties. :):):)
haha nicely done Allie. I KNOW it was the red panties that did it ;)
