First off, I apologize to everyone on A71 along with all my friends, family and coworkers for bitc**ng and moaning for two weeks how I miserably failed FAR after I felt like going into a full blown depression walking out of the exam.

Second, thank you A71 for teaching me to never predict a score. These tests are graded so crazy I’ll never try to predict again because I was CERTAIN I failed.

To anyone that didn’t pass this time around, hang in there and feel free to ask for any input on study habits. I’d be happy to help anyone I can.

DONE!!! Thank you A71 for all the support! Hiya!!!

I failed too! My score actually went down (although I have taken AUD and REG 2x in between). I used Yaeger CRAM to supplement Gleim. I actually thought I did better on this exam than any other section I've ever taken.

GO FIGURE. I still don't know what happened.

@mdrobbin…I felt the same way as you did, but my score is not as high as yours. I just made it by one point! I was so depressed after I took the exam, I drank for two nights straight, and I am not alcoholic…the problem with FAR is that there are so much materials to learn and easy to forget. It seems my mind gotta have a three-way switch, one for GAAP, one for IFRS, and another one for Government Acct. I knew I did not get the research question right, and I have one question I didn't know they are trying to ask because of its format…it's like: Question: How to go from point A to point B? Choice: A. Toyota, B. Nissan, C. Lexus…….??? My advice to those taking FAR is don't give up. The 4-hr-testing is a torture on your soul and hope. There were time I was screw it, I will just come back next time…please don't listen to that voice! Time management is very important, you gotta give 1.5 hrs to sim and commit to it. If you are seeing you don't have enough time left for SIMS, speed up the MCQ by taking a calculated guess, usually 50/50, on more complicating questions. Another note, not sure if it's right, is I do not leave any blanks. Follow the intructions, I think even if the blank doesn't require you to fill in, you might still need to put “0” in it.

Agree with convertible. Time management is HUGE. Phil Yaeger in one of the radio shows on the site archive gives a GREAT time management tip. I swear I would not have passed without it. 50 min per MCQ testlet and leave 90 min for SIMs. Saved my life. Thank you Phil!

If you are running behind in a testlet… You might have to guess a couple. I think I skipped 2 or 3 questions completely just to catch up on time for SIMs.

For studying, stick with 20 hours per week… Actually studying. I killed myself for this test… Closer to the exam I was at work from 8am til 10pm every nite. Worked 9 hours and studied five. It paid off in the end.

I took tons of notes and followed EXACTLY what Yaeger told me to do. After I finished all material, I went through all my notes and did all suggested MQCs one time through. Then I skimmed my notes quickly one more time. Then I had one week dedicated to the Wiley online test bank and I hammered NFP, Govt, pension and cash flows.

I always made sure I understood why if I missed a question.

That's pretty much all… Any further questions let me know. If you are committed, you will succeed. Failing is not an option, I've already made up my mind I will pass, I don't care how long it takes. I also want to help anyone I can along the way as others have been very helpful in giving me advice as well.
