So, I am confused on all the discussions of Wiley this and Wiley that. Are some of you using only Wiley study books and/or Test Books/Banks to prepare for the exams? Or are the Wiley materials meant to only be a supplement to Becker, Roger, Yaeger, etc.? Thanks in advance.

you can use wiley system as a review course (books, bank, focus notes. etc), you can also use wiley to supplement any other review course. I use Wiley books and test bank with Ninja products for review. I spent money on a review course to find that I do not like it, but I am not giving up my cpa quest because of that. So It depends on how you study or learn.
I would suggest you research, use demos and etc before you spend money on a review course.

I start with the practice questions and work back from there. I've found that if I start reading I get to the end of a chapter and feel like I retained very little of what I read. On the other hand, If I work the questions and lookup info as I need it, it sticks with me.
Here's a detailed post about my method:

December 28, 2012 at 10:22 pm #422892AnonymousInactiveI basically used Wiley for all four parts. I think for Auditing and REG I used CPAExcel's MCQ's in a very limited capacity. I also made sure to use CPAExcel's interface for the research SIM practice on each part. For each part, they are unique and shouldn't be neglected.
For AUD, BEC and REG I took detailed notes from Wiley (I also took notes for REG from CPAExcel). As I was taking the notes, I would stop where prompted and do the MCQ's (all of them). After a first pass, I would rewrite my notes and then do a complete run through the MCQ's, writing down what I did wrong. Then I would try to do two more complete passes, focusing especially hard on anything I missed again.
For FAR, it was just too much information to do the notes like I did. I tried notes from CPAExcel, then Wiley and ended up with about 350 pages of notes between them and never got past 1/3 of the way through either part. So I stopped taking notes and I rewrote my Ninja notes and did the Wiley MCQ's two times. I ran out of time so I expected to take FAR and use it as a benchmark, never thinking I could pass it. But I did. As a frame of reference, I have been out of Accounting since 1999 and just re-entered the profession. So to say I was rusty is an understatement.
Wiley is the way to go if you are hard core enough to put the time and work in. There are no shortcuts in it. I've seen too many others use different courses which only suggested they work specific Wiley MCQ's and they all failed. Wiley's questions rarely test the same exact topic, they do gnaw at the edges from different directions. I felt very prepared using Wiley.

I was wondering how I could get around so many notes. I stopped taking the cpaexcel notes as well and just focus on Wiley and Ninja. I hope I won't have that many more notes since I'm just using the Willey and Ninja. Hey I didn't know far was sucha beast. I am hesitant to scheduling my exam until I know I have well covered everything.
Cpapending, your comments along with Noct have been a great help. I sware I need a handle on this.

Can you please let me know which set of books (or it if was both) you used to prepare?
Thanks!

That same access code is what I sell – but you get it instantly.
Once you register your code (aka “pin”) you can also download an offline version of the test bank.
In short – buying the test bank from me is the fastest – and cheapest option.

It's all about what your time is worth because the TB is a lot faster/more efficient.

REG - 92December 30, 2012 at 3:05 am #422902mdrobbinMemberJeff makes a very good point. I try to spend a few days hammering through the text questions to make sure I'm not missing good questions but I try to spend at least 7 days full steam on the online test bank. It is MUCH more efficient on the test bank because you immediately get an answer and are able to view the selected text which is applicable to the entire topic.
In my opinion, the Wiley Test Bank is invaluable and is a much more efficient use of study time than textbook MCQ's for the reasons Jeff stated. Supplement that with some NINJA study material and it's go time!
