Hi all, this might be a silly question but how do you write a well organized response if do not know the topic(s) or have no idea whatsoever on what they are asking? Should we use the research tab to find the information? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Hey gateway, not a silly question at all, what I have done was simply restate the question and if I had no clue (truth be told I always had some clue), I would define some of the key words and just go on from there... I have provided responses from 3 sentences to 3 paragraphs.
Using the research tab may help if you have a really good grasp of the FASB's , SAS's and the IRC, but whatever you do don't go crazy if you can't find what you are looking for because it will eat up a lot of time, move on to the other simulation tabs, maybe you will think of something..
Another hint, always, always, always, check your spelling, and read over for any glaring grammar issues because it counts...

I alway wrote an intro describing three points of discussion, a paragraph for each point of discussion followed by a conclusion that weighs the points in context to the specifics of the question (e.g., a client asks for an explanation, tax position, etc)
Definitely use the research tab. When addressing simulations, I start with the written portion by researching the topic. After finding the selections needed (this can be time consuming), I will draft my writings, clean up the paragraphs etc, then do the research question then slap the other simulation tabs together. This worked very well for me
