Cindy just read the book. Anyone have any tips for that section other than just reading and taking notes?
Unfortunately it is mindnumbingly (not a word, I know) boring.

IT is just a boring subject. Almost impossible to make it interesting. Just keep doing MCQs over & over until you get it.
Beckers IT section was brutally insufficient as well. Just do as many MC questions as possible and read. Try and look online for extra questions
I'm extremely disappointed with Yaeger's BEC Disk one. Dr. Yaeger didn't go over much of anything in business structure and a few minutes went unedited of him tripping over words, having coughing fits, drinking water, etc. I know you're trying to make it like a really classroom, but edit this junk out. Time is money!! Cindy's IT lectures were insanely bad. She spent the first 40 minutes talking about the BEC exam itself, the next 40 minutes telling you which MCQ went with each page, like 10 minutes total talking nonsense and the rest of the time rushing through the book and "going over" MCQ, but assuming we aready had an understanding of the stuff, she was just like, well we know that this is this... No we dont know that! Then she told us to just do the rest of the chapter ourselves. Thanks for going over Web Browsers with us and leaving Networks, VPN's, and the more complicated stuff for ourselves. I mean, yes these people are adorable, but thats not what I need. Everybody here talks up Yaeger being awesome for BEC and Cindy being a god of the cost accounting etc. I really hope thats the case and that all of this Yaeger support is not just for website advertising sales and something that is actually believed in. But I did watch Becker's lecture on business structure and it was quite "streets ahead" of yaegers lecture. I start dvd 2 tom., I hope to God I will be eating my words...
Drust I think you will end up eating your words.. I felt the same way about disc one but I am now on disc 6 and can say that the dvds were good. I think the best thing for IT is just to do the questions. I have used other software and it was the same deal. As far as business structures I know Phil didn't do the best job but thats all you really need to know. This will be my third attempt and I haven't seen anything on business structures that Phil didn't mention. Good luck and I hope you start to like it better!
Becker's IT section sucked too. My advice would be to buy gleim's test bank, use cpareviewforfree, the wiley questions you already have.. just drill drill drill!
A lot of people have gotten through BEC using Yaeger's cram or HomeStudy from this site. A LOT. You're in good hands.
The IT portion wasn't that good. I thought Phil did a good job with Business Structure, to me there wasn't much more he could say. I think Cindy did the best she could with IT. Its hard to prepare us for something like that when none of us are IT people including the Yaeger people. I just went over all the IT questions right before the test like Jeff suggested, hopefully it payed off
I think everyone agrees that the IT sections are not covered well by either study course, but the rest of the material is covered very well in Yeager. Anything with calculations is covered much better by Yeager. Will see how I do on the test, but would give them another shot even if I do fail. Probably more of not puting enough time in on the IT section.
I was dissapointed in the IT section of Yaeger b/c Cindy points out to read over specific audit modules. Unfortunately, this is my first section to take of the CPA exam and I don't even have my audit book yet. I'm very concerned about this section b/c I cannot memorize ALL of that information. I say memorize b/c I know NOTHING about IT. I feel like I'm spinning my wheels, here. I pray that my knowledge in cost, etc. will get me through this. If not, I'm TOAST!
do what Cindy says and you will pass.
Do ALL of the questions on IT in the Wiley book, and when you are finished, do ALL of the questions in "cpa review for free" on the Internet.
