So I was browsing about the CPA exam and stumbled upon this amazing forum with golden information for CPA candidates. I am currently pursuing my Bachelors of Science in Accountancy and will be finished this September. I was planning on buying the CPA review but was indecisive since I registered for MSA classes for the fall. I also will not be working. Do you guys suggest I study for the CPA exam while doing my MSA? Will this be too much of a burden on me?

The big question would be if your MSA program is designed in a way to help you pass the CPA exam, which most are today, and several use cpa review materials as the textbook. If it is, then you might be better off just waiting until after you complete it to study at that point because it should just be a few weeks of reviewing . Then again, the AUD and BEC parts tend to be less studied in an MSA program, so it might be beneficial to try and nail those parts this summer or fall while your undergrad info is still fresh, and then next summer you should be able to complete the other two parts.

If your program is not designed specifically for the exam, then studying during the semester can be helpful. But there is no sense in studying material in the fall if you don't plan on taking the exam soon.

    AUD-Failed (Waiting for Score)
    BEC-PASSED (First try)
    REG-Failed (Retake February 2013)
    FAR-Failed (Retake January 2013)

It will not be too much a burden on you unless you make it that way for yourself. When I sat for the CPA, I was working full time, raising 2 kids and taking a MSA class per semester. It was manageable and I obviously had much more going on than school and the exam.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

i just finished last friday. i have a wife and 2 kids and got my MBA before i started studying for CPA (needed credit hours). It can be done esepcially if you're single with no kids. I cant imagine how great it would of been to have gone home after work everyday to an empty apartment to relax and study.
