Did I take an Audit test?! Or a FAR test? Smh…

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to vent a tad. Took AUD this morning and was really well prepared for it. Did well on the practice tests, the recently released questions, and etc. This was the test I felt most prepared for to date. 4 hours later, I felt completely different…

The MCQ’s were mostly all AUD related (with a few out of left field, like you all know). The first testlet was actually harder than I expected it to be. The second testlet was more wordy (so I assume more difficult) but unfortunately, the 3rd testlet seemed the easiest. It may have been “hard” but it seemed too straightforward… I’m trying not to think about it too much… I guess we’ll see how things pan out.

As for the SIMs, I think my computer glitched somehow and switched me to a FAR exam. I had a couple of SIMs that I swear had NOTHING to do with AUD whatsoever. Having just taken FAR, I would have expected to see these SIMs in FAR. Honestly. Moreover, I had 1 SIM with 3 tabs of information and 2 SIMs with 2 tabs of info. Are you serious? Some people get 2 research SIMs and I had several SIMs with several tabs of tons of info. How is that fair? Those SIMs took me over an hour to complete in themselves and I didn’t feel good about them at all… I did my best though! Good thing I left about 1 hour and 45 mins to do my SIMs. (The AICPA should really think of some way to even out their SIM distribution… I feel jipped…)

Needless to say, I turned my exam in with about 30 seconds left feeling completely defeated. I went into the exam expecting to blow it out of the park, but instead, my mind was blown. I was really well prepared for AUD, no doubt, but I don’t think there was anything I could have done to prepare me for the truck that blindsided me today. The MCQ were harder than I expected and the SIMs were absolutely ridiculous. Nothing like I had seen in my Becker review materials. I’ve had a few SIMs on other tests that have been ridiculous, but not more than 1 or 2 per test. 4-5 of the SIMs on this test, however, were a complete crapshoot. I now have a better understanding as to why people talk about the exam being a lot of preparation and a lot of luck. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on my side this time. I’m just praying that my AUD GuessFest was enough to pass.

It sounds to me like a pass, and your story is the very reason many recommend taking AUD right after FAR,

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Def. think you passed!!! AUD SIMs are famous for having FAR related material. Seems like you were well prepared and gave your best and thus you will pass!!!

Great scores on other two exams, btw!

I can totally relate with you. I took AUD last month and was disappointed with the SIMS. I had 1 research and 3 audit related SIMS which I suppose to research at the AL but I don't have time. The rest 3 SIMS were all long computation with 2 tabs. I have to put in numbers in the fields. Unfortunately, I failed with 72. In my report, I am stronger in MCQ and weak in SIMS which I am expecting but still I was devastated when I received my score.

    FAR 04/21/2012 - Passed
    AUD 07/28/2012 - Passed
    BEC 10/20/2012 - Passed
REG 2/28/13 - Horrible exam ever! - Passed
    I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!

I felt that way after I took AUD. I felt I did well on the MCQs but the Sims messed me up. I was convinced that I didn't pass. I wound up scoring an 88.
