    Hello all,

Can any of you pass along some AUD exam tips. I have a few friends who walked out quite confidently and did not pass the exam, which is making me very nervous.

I am using Becker and take the exam on Oct 10th. Any specific matter that I should focus on in these last two weeks.

    Thanks a lot!!

Jeff- thanks for all your help. This blog literally pulled me through studying. AUD was my last exam. I felt pretty confident leaving the test, which according to your "50 things you must know" book, isn't a good thing. I'm trying not to think about it.

    nervouswreck,

are you confident even with marking 9-15 questions on the last 2 testlets? i marked betwee 5-8 and didn't know if i should panic or not!

p.s. i don't want to make you nervous or anything…i am just trying to get a feel for how many people usually mark! 🙂

When I say "marked", I mean that if I didn't know the answer within 30 seconds, I marked it and moved on, then came back and re-reviewed the questions. I feel that of the ones that I marked, only a few (5-6 out of 90) were ones that were SWAGs (sophisticated wild @ss guesses).

nervouswreck – that section of the book was tricky to write.

There's a difference b/w "wow, that was easy" and "it wasn't that bad…I was well-prepared".

People who know that they shortcut their studying only to find that their exam was easy afterall might have need to worry.

If you prepared like you should and found the exam challenging, but doable…that's a good thing.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 80
    FAR - 76
    REG - 92

    Halfcpa:

No worries!! I'm not nervous, I took it the first time and got a 67. I'm okay if I don't pass this time, just trying not to think about it being the last one. I talked to a girl that I work with and she said for her tests she usually marks 5-10 per testlet. For REG and FAR, I would say I marked 5-10 per testlet the first go-round. My strategy for marking is this: go through all MC questions and answer the ones that I can get within 30-45 seconds, if I can't or I like 2 answers, I will either leave the question blank, or pick the answer that I like the best, then move on. I then go back and re-read the questions that I marked along with my “gut” answer. I found that if I re-read the question, the answer is usually easier for me to pick out. For AUD, I went back to some questions 3-5 times before I liked the answer that I finally chose.

Took Audit this morning-left there feeling brain dead & had no thoughts if it went well or not. I just have no clue-it was tough but it wasn't like I knew nothing. Just have a blank feeling about it….

If I didn't pass today & don't pass FAR Nov 25th, then I lose my BEC credit Nov 30th. I've already passed REG also.

In the comments section at the end of the test, I wanted to put “please pass me! I've studied really hard & just am not a good test taker. please pass me I've given you $ for 13 tests, you have earned enough $ off of me & I've studied tons of hours. I promise! please pass me” I didn't but I laughed to myself when that part came up on the screen. LOL

JAKS, what review course did you use for AUDIT? Also, did you think it prepared you enough for it?

I've been studying since July 07. I used Becker July 07-Nov 08. Then in 09 I started using Bisk-textbook, software & intensive dvds. I felt prepared-it was just tough. I'm nervous for my score-even more than the others as more is riding on it.

So what does it mean when I only had 2-4 questions I wasn't sure about in the first testlet, but got them down to two answers and then received a much much harder testlet which I had like 8-10 I wasn't sure on, then I had an easier one then the 2nd testlet (prob. b/c I didn't do so well), which I knew almost all of them. Does this mean anything? I thought I did really well on writing and on the research, the simulations are always left field so you never know on them. Any thoughts??

I took AUD today for the 2nd time. I am pretty nervous because of the sims. I hope some of the AICPA people are reading this site. It seems to me that the sims were written in a very convoluted way. I don't mind that they were FAR related material but in some cases it waa hard to figure out what the sims were asking for. I dread the thought of having to take this a third time but I guess it could happen. BTW I hope I am in Wave 1.

OnePointAway – Good luck on Audit. How did you feel overall compared to the first time you took the exam? Any hint on how to study better? I am taking again a week from today so I am going to be doing nothing but studying for the next 6 days.

    FAR - 84; AUD - 74, 11/5/09; REG - 10/10/09 ??; BEC - 11/23/09

    gonnabacpany,

I feel only a little better. The MC were a little easier this exam than the last. Since I got a 74 last time I am now hoping that the MC will get me a 75. But the sims asking for AJE's were hard because they worded in a convoluted way. Hard to figure out what they wanted in some cases. If I fail again it will be very discouraging but I know many people have failed several times. I hope I am not one of them. As far as studying goes, I think the one area I could have done better was read the prose more in the Wiley and Bisk books and not rely only on the MC practice questions. Try to know the material really well. Hope this helps you.

    I hope I'm in Wave 1.

OnePointAway – I am in the same boat, I just need to find one point somewhere. I am nervous because I am doing th MC again and I am still getting 85-90% like I did last time. I am trying to read more of the books so hopefully it will help! According to Jeff's predicitons tests taken through November 7th are eligible for wave one, so hopefully we will both have our passing score soon! Good luck!

    Jeff,

Is the written part of the exam the only part that is viewed and graded by a person? Are the MC and sims graded only by computer?
