OnePointAway- my apologies. Sounds like you've got this thing buttoned up.

    Nervouswreck,

I am also a nervous wreck myself. I actually have a total of 4 chances to pass the AUD exam before I start to lose credit on my other 3 passed exams. I have already blown one of the 4. I am taking my 2nd exam this Oct. 27. I am really nervous about it. I keep having this nightmare that I will have to repeat my other exams even though I already passed them.

I am a complete bundle of nerves. I did get a 74 which is somewhat encouraging. I think it was the sims that killed me and it is impossible to prepare for them.

I am preparing now for AUD and I am using Becker. Chapter 5 discusses sampling in fair detail. On p. A5-15 they have the formulas for estimation. Has anybody here bothered to memorize these formulas?

    What about the PPS formula?

OnePointAway, I would not say memorize the formula, however I would make sure you understand that section.

I took the exam yesterday, overall I would say it was not that difficult. I saw a nice amount of questions from Wiley.

    Ikbcpa2b,

Thank you for the information. I have already done all the Wiley questions but I will go through them again. My AUD test is Oct. 27 so I should have enough time.

I thought I was prepared the 1st time I took AUD but I got a 74. I knew all the Becker questions and I still failed. I think it was mostly the sims that killed me. Also, I did not go through the rules of independence and that hurt me. I just need that one more point. did you do the sims in Wiley, ikbcpa2b?

Yes, I sure did. I made sure I did every problem in the book. I felt very prepared. I would say you are ready and not trying to be confident. I wish I could tell you how many questions that came from Wiley. I know I answered them 3 times each. LOL!

I have only done the MC from Wiley. Maybe I will do the sims too.

@Onepointaway – I feel your pain, I failed AUD with a 74 as well. Leaving the exam I was very confident that I passed but ended up one point shy. I passed FAR with an 84 and just sat for REG. I have started supplementing Becker with Wiley as well. I think that Becker does a fairly good job with the multiple choice, but the simulations were not even close to what I had. I am retaking AUD on the 5th, hopefully I can find that last point somewhere! Good luck everyone.

    FAR - 84; AUD - 74, 11/5/09; REG - 10/10/09 ??; BEC - 11/23/09

    Hi gonnabacpany,

Thank you for the note. How much time did you spend prerparing for AUD when you got the 74?

I was just wondering how many questions people usually mark on their testlets for Audit. I took it on Friday, and walked out thinking it was a lot trickier than I expected. I got in the 80s on both Becker Final Exams, so was hoping I would be in good shape. I ended up marking about 5 questions on the 1st testlet and between 6 and 8 on the 2nd and 3rd. Is that common?

    OnePointAway,

I did the becker live classes and pretty much followed the study plan that they set up for you. I would estimate that in addition to the class time I spent roughly 100 hours over the course of 6 weeks studying. My downfall was the simulations. I was caught off guard, I do not think that the becker simulations were helpful for AUD. Hopefully I will be more prepared this time.

    FAR - 84; AUD - 74, 11/5/09; REG - 10/10/09 ??; BEC - 11/23/09

    gonnabacpany,

Thank you for your insights. You are correct. The big problem is the sims. I just don't know how to prepare for them. I can do the practice sims but that provides only limited help since I don't know what to expect. The sims make it impossible to ever fully prepare for the exam.

That sounds fairly common. It depends on how you interpret marking though. I mark any question where I can't immediately pick out the answer, usually within 30 to 45 seconds. This ends up with me marking usually between 8 to 10 answers per testlet, and the rest I know cold (no doubt about it). I also take a "first pass" on any that seem particularly challenging or lengthy; I don't bother answering these until I finish the rest. Those usually end up being between 3 or 4 per testlet. Thus marking a question can vary from person to person; for me, marked questions usually aren't troublesome unless they fall into the "first pass" category.
