Hello Everyone.

I’ve cleared the rest of 3 subjects in one go in the last 6 months. Scored 82 in all of them. AUDIT though feels a different story and mainly because of SIMS. I have reviewed the AICPA Sample sims as well but my main problem arises when i see a lot of exhibits based on real life and which include ton of information. One weak area I’ve identified is cash cycle and bank rec. Though becker had some sims that were exactly the same in the exam, around 3 or 4 sims felt otherworldly

I have used only becker for all the subjects and failed audit twice now

First try (sept 30 2020)
Mock 1 – 72
Mock 2 – 70
Mock 3 – 69
Actual – 73 (time mismanagement on my part)

Second try (dec 30 2020)
Mock 1 – 82
Mock 2 – skipped (just reviewed the questions and sims)
Mock 3 – 88
Actual – 73 AGAIN (maintained time)

and this time tbh i did’nt even care about audit, i felt like i’m surely gonna pass, was concerned for BEC (took on 9th dec which i cleared surprisingly)

Both the time i feel like SIMS are the real issue for me. Planning to purchase NINJA for supplement and planning to take it in mid feb 2021. Are NINJA SIMS better than becker? Please guide.

I'd recommend trying to do lots of MCQ's but if you don't get them right, take the time to read why it was wrong. Also, I used Roger CPA's cram course and that helped me

Hey Steve. Thanks for replying, what all does that cram course include and were the SIMS in the course comparable to the actual exam.

I mean for example some SIMS had around 6-7 exhibits such as bank reconicllation and various statements where you had to choose auditors action or wether whatever the auditor did was sufficient. Basically it was based a lot on real life issues. I scanned becker and could not find any such SIMS. Thats why i'm planning for a supplement course.

Also I have no work experience so whatever knowledge i've acquired is through the Becker study material only. I'm not familiar a lot with statements such as the above mentioned.

Please do also mention how much did the cram course cost

Hi! I passed Aud on 1st try then lost my credit, then I made a 72, I just passed with an 82.

So here is what I did. I bought the Gleim book and MC/sims bank (its $300). I was initially only studying with Wiley. I also used ninja as a supplement. I used the ninja audio to keep things fresh. I read the gleim book and did the multiple choice section by section. This helped me isolate the topics that I was failing in. I wrote down MC questions I missed and why. I saw a big leap in my trending score when I did this. I also did this for sims. I wrote down the sim and why I missed it. I worked full time and would get up at 5am and study before work, an hour at lunch, and another hour or two after work. I did this for 6 weeks after a failed AUD on 11/2/2020. I found out thanksgiving week I failed. I began studying immediately and sat for a retake on Dec. 30, 2020 and just passed my last section. I had to take the cpa exam 10 time (Far-3, AUD-3 *lost credit, REG-3, BEC-1)! Its worth it!

@lfranc8 Wow that's commendable. Congrats on becoming a CPA.

How was your experience with Sims in ninja course. Was it comparable with the actual exam. I remember there were some sims on bank rec/confirmation as well as an otherworldly sampling sim. I can't seem to find any sim that was even comparable in becker.

Thats the only reason I'm planning for ninja. Though a lot of people have passed with becker only.

Any guidance would be highly appreciated.

@Rish send me an email at lfranc8@gmail.com! I just sat for AUD also and can help with the sampling. I had a great AUD teacher and never used any of the sampling information in the review courses. Ninja sims were definitely comparable and gleims were good too! For me, I struggled with the cycles and was basically losing easy points that way.
