And I feel very discombobulated (spelling?!?)! I feel like I am unorganized…dont’ know what I should be reviewing…my mind is going at 100 m.p.h!!!

Studying for AUD….I have done 2,100+ MCQ’s looked over 8 SIMS (plan on doing a couple more)….I am just nervous b/c this is my last part and I failed it in Oct w/ a 70.

Raychie21- I feel your pain (sorry I seem to always respond to your posts!!). Mine is the day after yours!!

I'm looking over the AICPA released questions today and trying to determine whether there are patterns/areas where I am weak. I try to make a list of the things that I need to nail down, then go back to my book and re-read/take notes on the sections that I'm weaker in.

I will probably try to go back and do MCQs today too.

Question–have you seen any sims in Becker that deal with independence? I.e.: situations where you have to determine if the persons in the facts are independent in appearance, but not in fact, and vice versa? I need to review those rules and my Wiley book doesn't cover Independence in this manner.

I looked through the sims from Becker and it does not appear to have any on independence. Honestly I don't think that Becker has many if any MCQ's on independence either. The only thing I can really recall on independence is you have to be independent to perform an audit or a review but not a compilation. Correct me if I am wrong b/c that is a very good possibility! Tomorrow I plan on reading through my book noting pass keys and nuemonics.

I am just so ready for this to be over! If you have any good tips/tricks I would love to hear them!

Raychie21- You are 100% correct about independence with respect to performing the different types of services. Without getting into specifics, I had a simulation last time that dealt with independence (not in relation to the services). I couldn't find Wiley information either.

I'm with you on the frustrated part. I just finished a practice test with an 83, but I refuse to stop reviewing. I can't handle the thought of having to take this a 4th time.

I honestly don't have any tips. What I do is take a practice test then go back and re-read the book and take notes on the areas that I am weak in. I have a really hard time with the neumonics, so I memorized the lists instead. I learn by writing stuff out, so I have typed notes on the entire Becker and Wiley book. I will go over those both tomorrow and probably hit more MCQs. If you would like the notes, I am more than happy to send them. Anything to pass this test!!!!

Thanks for the offer but I have 2 notebooks of hand written notes that I really need to review tonight and tomorrow! I have taken 3 progress test (not practice test) and here are my results

    Progress test #1 (1/10/2010) Ch 1 100%, ch 2 95%, ch 3 90%, ch 4 92% & ch 5 86% Overall 93%

    Progress test #2 (1/14/2010) Ch 1 87%, ch 2 86%, ch 3 80%, ch 4 88% & ch 5 86% Overall 85%

    Progress test #3 (1/16/2010) Ch 1 100%, ch 2 91%, ch 3 90%, ch 4 92% & ch 5 100% Overall 95%

The practice test scare me b/c the questions always seem so much harder than what they are on the real exam and then I find myself getting really frustrated. I think I am going to do one more progress test and call it a day—to bad it takes me about 3 hours to get through one….I write out everything I get wrong plus some!

On independence…. if you know on what services you need to be independent such as audit and reviews vs. compliations you will be good in that area.

I passed Audit last Nov. and I did the same thing you did. I took the progress tests and it helped me figure out where my strengths and weaknesses were. I didn't do any final exams either because it was just too intimidating and made me lose my confidence.

GOOD LUCK!!!! You'll beat audit 🙂 You sound very prepared. Don't stress out too much between now and your exam. Go in with confidence and you'll leave with a passing score.

I'm less than 2 days from my test….took a practice test on Wiley yesterday, 83, took one today, 86. I am trying to decide how to spend my day tomorrow. I don't want to overstudy–thoughts for the final 24 hours of review????

    almost_there,

Just curious, I have no experience with Wiley material when you take practice test are they only multiple choice questions or are they like Becker's Practice Final Exams that include simulations with written communications that are just like the real thing. I ask because I wonder since I have read some post in the past where candidates fail because of the simulations and written communications. I know Jeff does not believe in practicing simulations but think that doing some simulations for practice gives the candidate the confidence to navigate the simulation's tabs, written communication and research. What is your take and does Wiley have practice simulations, written communications and Final Exams in their software?

    Good Luck on your exam!!

Lee_IN and WV cpa– thanks. The wiley software does have simulations, but I am with Jeff in the thought that they don't help that much. I passed all the other parts without doing the sims. You just don't get a very good idea of what your ACTUAL sim will be like.

I don't know how many more questions I can do before I go cross-eyed!!
