For those of you who have taken AUD (or another section,) how benecifial was practicing sims? Is it more for the structure and to be “used to them” or for the subsantive benefits? Thanks!

taking becker I never did any sims for audit and I passed..the MCQ are more important in my opinion but you might want to try the sims out just in case.

For me there are 2 types of sims, choose the answer sims ( the easy thank you god for me) and the hard fill in the amount yourself ( which is a pain if you panic and forget the topic on which is being asked). Remember that the research and wrtten communications are easy points and you should do those as best as you can, propper grammar and using the research function to freshen up if you have time.

For Aud doing the Mc's and knowing the material should help you enough, but practice at least 1 of each type ( choose the answer or fill the answer yourself) SO you have at least an idea on what to expect.

    Good luck!!!!

I spent far more time doing MC than the sims, but the sims did help me implement some more material. The sims on my exam were NOTHING like the sims that I practiced, however the practice of the sims did give me a better overall understanding of the material.

I agree with financeguy. Every simulation I got on the actual exam was nothing like my Becker simulations. Each tab related to a different topic (unlike Becker where there is a common topic throughout the entire simulation). Although, the structure is identical.

That said, I wouldn't neglect the Becker simulations. They definitely pick up on topics not covered in the multiple choice and help you understand the material better. The research section is worth spending time on because you'll learn how to navigate through the literature, which can be trickier than it seems.

I didn't practice the research function at all prior to the exam. I know that I nailed the research tab on both sims. I found what I needed w/o a doubt, and it took me less than 5 minutes for each one. I think overall the research is very easy if you are simply used to working with any kind of internet search engine and know how to narrow down a broad search. I personally wouldn't spend much time, if any, practicing the research.
