So the MC is worth 70% of your grade, so does that mean that you need to get all 90 questions correct and you get 70 points?

I know some pretest questions are on the exam and they don’t count. So if you only missed those, but got every other one right, does that get you 70 points?

Or can you miss some of the regular questions and still get all 70 points? Does anybody know?

On the yaeger review course they say that on 1 of the sims it will be really hard and they don’t expect you to get it all right, only some of it. So does that mean you can get full points for only getting some of it right?

In Jeff’s book for FAR he said that he never completed the 2nd sim, yet still passed. So does that mean that he nearly got every single MC question correct?

Or do the MC questions get graded so you can still get 70 points w/o getting them all right, but you just can’t get more than 70 points?

    AUD - 81, BEC - 74, 80, FAR - 82, REG - 81

I don't know the answer to your question about the MCQs, but in the SIMS there are more points available than you can actually earn. So, it is possible to leave parts of a SIM blank and still receive all the points for that SIM. Also, don't waste any time in the research tab, it's only worth one point. Take a quick shot and move on.

you won't get an absolute answer concerning this, but as to my understanding of the grading process of the multiple choice. Not including the pretest questions (which are not included in your grade), 70% of your score is from the multiple choice questions so you can logically conclude that if you get all of the graded mc questions correct you will get 70 points plus whatever you get on the simulations and written portions as your final score

financeguy – I think you're trying to figure out the impossible! I know for a fact that I did rough on my MC and I also left some parts of my SIMS blank… but I got an 80 on FAR. The AICPA released an adobe document that gives the most thorough break-down of the grading process… https://www.cpa-exam.org/download/How_the_CPA_Exam_is_Scored.pdf

I do know that one of the areas that can definitely help you out is the essay part of the sims. Definitely do NOT overlook this. I had a professor who used to grade exams and he said that to score high, you must first address the issue and then just properly structure your writing. If you have the answer wrong, that's okay as long as you support your answer and have a well-written intro, body, and conclusion.

Good luck! And try not to spend too much time on worrying about how its graded… it just takes away from your actual study time! (I'm speaking from experience.)

    AUD - 75; REG - 79; BEC - 72,75; FAR - 72,80 - DONE!!! THANK THE LORD!!!!
