Hello. I hope u guys have a great plan for Thanks Giving. Im passing this Thanks giving to pass AUD :(..

I have passed REG and I found that using Authoritative literature function and practicing SIM was crucial to pass that exam (after failing one time). I don’t want to fail AUD once again to learn how to pass the exam.. so I ask.

I was wondering if it would be same for AUD as well. I study FULL time and have approximately 70 hours to study until my exam on Monday 11/30.

I am going to go over my Roger CPA video (on x2 speed setting)one more time to refresh my memory and pound on Roger and Ninja MCQ as well as look over SIMS. I am scoring around 60% on average on Roger MCQ quizes.

Any other test taking tips or study suggestions for AUD?

I did all of the ninja sims at least once. The purpose was to read the question and then review the answers to align what i thought they were asking with what they actually wanted. They also help provide a different approach to the material which is good. What also helped me a lot was I printed the home page for the aicpa audit, attest and review standards then referred to them as i wailed on the mcq's. Read the descriptive paragraph for each. Knowing which topics have their own standard will save you time during the exam. Also read through at least one to be familiar with the format. Know the difference between the numbered paragraph and the paragraphs that start with A and how they reference each other. I swam in the AL for 2 hours during my exam and familiarity allowedme to finish rather than drown. Referring to them while you do mcq's will also help differentiate how each of these engagements differ and the distinctions start to stand out. The lists are also built in the order in which you would do the work in an engagement with special cases at the end of the list. Know where the opinions are in the list because the exam will list the standards in numerical order, too. If you are asked a question about opinions, for example, you want to get there fast. No fumbling. If you browse through that standard beforehand you will know where to find the contest list or the language of a report quickly. Know that PCAOB standards apply only to issuers and AICPA to nonissuers. Get the basics of the standards down and finishing becomes a reality.
Read each question carefully and take the time to read all the info that comes up with answers. I started doing longer question sets at the end just to get into exam mode. Review is not rushing through the material it is sealing your grasp of it. As awful as audit can be it is all in the standards so know something about how they are presented and organized.
You can do this. Good luck.

i should also stress to keep an eye on the clock. you need time to use AL so pace yourself to have at least 2 hours for sims. it takes time to toggle back and forth between AL and response boxes. read the instructions to know if to leave blanks or enter zeroes. review some basic journal entries.

LOL moniker congrats!!! i havent been on the forum for like10 days -been in crunchtime beastmode for my AUD exam on monday. i just came to check on your score in your signature. i am glad to see the “11/24/15 score release not expecting good news” be replaced by a 93! i kno you studied hard congrats great job…

now on that same note you got any tips for me to crush it like you did? 😀

so far i got a great understanding of Audit Reports, otheren gagements (comparative financials, comps, preps ,reviews, F/S prepared using OCBOA) got horrible understanding of sampling, great on Audit evidence and audit engagement planning, so-so on professional responsibility, govt, IT,quality control.

Eesti i have been looking for you! Glad you are back. No one was more shocked than i by that score. My exam experience was AWFUL almost asked them to call an ambulance and then i remembered to BREATHE! Honestly hit the mcq's until you can't do anymore. Do the practice sims – not for the score but to understand the instructions and align what they actually wanted with what you thought they wanted when you first read the question.
Print those standards homepages and just get familiar with the order and how to find what you are looking for fast. Watch the clock and pace yourself for 2+ hours for sims and use the AL and follow the instructions when you complete the answers. Keep breathing. Dont skip anything on your review. If you have ninja mcqs you have blitz right now – watch them – i scored a few points from jeff's hints in those. You can watch/listen while taking a break from mcq's. Drink water while studying – it keeps your brain hydrated and big – no kidding. Get a good night's sleep night before. Wake up early. Put your nts in the car right now. Dont forget your ID. Go early to test center. Eat before but not a lot of water or coffee before because no breaks during exam. Plan on taking the full 4 hours. Dont freak out (like i did) over the first 5 questions – just accept that is how they will be coming at you. Read the entire question. Read all answers before choosing the best/only one. Use the AL and just know going in that toggling back and forth between the AL and question is tedious. Write the language you need down on the card they give you and type it from there or use that to select the right answer. When you feel like giving up tell that test to go f&!@k itself you are in it till the end.
Ninja that thing to its death! It is kill or be killed time. Do it to win it.

I am finishing my last accounting course for CPA requirement. I have been on this forum for about 2-3 weeks now and been reading all suggestions. I am trying to figure out which order should I take the exams in (I know there is no set order) but how do I tame this CPA lion? Which study guide is good? How much time should I spent studying before attempting exam? Any suggestions will be appreciated!!

first check your state board's website and review all they have posted for your state's reqs to a. sit for exam and b. get licensed. if your state is a nasba state the info may be posted on nasba's site – see what you find out. the process can be expensive so start bldg a budget unless you are independently wealthy.

were you a good student? and by that i mean did you study hard or cram for exams? how much of what you learned is portable? the reason i ask is there are varying levels of review courses depending on where you are starting from. to be clear you will need a review course because they present the material in a way that prepares you for the actual exams.

finally, for now anyway, the exams take a lot of preparation and high level of commitment and fortitude. so reading what gets posted here will help you get a sense of that.

oh, and i should have started with this…

moniker, i'm thinking about resetting Ninja MCQ, planning to finish the whole thing getting closer to 100% like you did. i have about 2 months. do you think that's doable? like you had done, i plan to do a question, read all the explanations, read the standards etc.

If I can do it, you can do it too!

ya. i got to review/100% trending in 6 weeks starting from beginning. i could have done it faster but test dates were hard to get so i ended up with almost eight weeks but got a little goofy between 5th and 7th weeks because i was starting to burn out.

you can do this. audit in ninja mcq is laid out from start to finish so it really builds the emphasis on the process and builds knowledge of the steps as you go. either ch 4 or 5 in the book was hard to keep going because material was really dry but you will get through.

just remember, valuation is the devil's assertion.

i have taken 2 weeks of break since the exam on 11/30. think that's a long enough break. i'm just not motivated that much to study right now but i'm praying it'll come. once i'm at barnes and nobles, i can focus on studying. that's my plan beginning tomorrow.

so looks like 6 weeks is doable. i'm going to start from scratch, reset the questions and do all questions and read all answers like you did. i don't have ninja notes but i'll use wiley 2014 book as a reference. i also plan to listen to becker cram during the review phase.

“valuation is the devil's assertion” i don't get it.

If I can do it, you can do it too!

i think my weakness was more on internal control than assertions. maybe i need to dig in deeper then i'll find where my weaknesses are.

i can't study at home. i am tempted to watch tv, youtube etc… just can't study at home. my wife always wanted me to study from home but she knows my weakness so she prefers i study outside now. ^^

you need to find a quiet place to study and not in a retail store during the holiday shopping season. go to the library or just buckle down at home and ignore those other things. do what you know needs to be done to pass. no distractions. no excuses.
