Wow…I prepared super hard for this section. I think between both of my mcqs I got anywhere from 7-17 wrong. Second testlet seemed easier, but had all sorts of curves balls thrown in it. The sims were incredibly time consuming and grinding. I feel good about the writing section though, but man, that was wayyyy harder than FAR. I don’t know what I should even think at this point.

Hi! Are MCQs more calculation based or more concept based? Are they heavy in COSO or IT?

@Coffees56 not going to lie to you, your BEC post is not at all inspiring. Hahaha. I was on the fence on rescheduling my BEC exam from the end of August to the first week of September. I'm going to that for sure now.

I did BEC in June. I was expecting lots of calc questions and coso, erm and IT. I was surprised how few questions were similar to my study material. The questions were definitely more conceptualization and I swear I saw some questions on my audit study materials.
When I did FAR I thought for sure I failed and left so upset bc I didn’t put in enough study hours. BEC I walked out like WTF was that exam I just took because it sure as hell wasnt something I studied for.

I'm going to be the person who says "I finished even though..." not the person who says "I didn't finish because..."

I just took BEC on July 6th. This was a retake from April, and it was weighted MUCH differently than my first exam. Like @Krstnam said, none of my difficult practice questions from the review courses were tested. The tougher concepts I prepared for were barely tested. I spent the last three days of review hammering out the most difficult multi-stepped calculation problems–completely absent! It felt like a completely different section than my first experience. It seems like they are evolving BEC into a much different test. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I couldn't tell if my second testlet was “harder” or not. My SIMs were 50/50 manageable and very difficult.

When you took BEC the first time how did you do on the sims? I feel like the sims might’ve killed my chances this time

I had the same experience the first time: two manageable SIMs and two difficult. After my first exam, I realized I made a really stupid mistake on one of the manageable SIMS. So I only did well on one of the four. This time, I felt much better about the SIMs, but still made some educated guesses on two of them. Hopefully the worst one was the pretest.

What did you get the first time?

Ugh, it was bad. I got a 65. I didn't manage my time and only had 14 minutes for WC. I spent 12 minutes on one WC, 1.5 minutes on the second WC, and wrote “Thank you for allowing me to assist you” on the last WC before the clock expired.

Just took the exam. By far the hardest exam compared to the other 3. I passed the other 3 first try. This one, I made almost all guesses on the first testlet. Second testlet was easier which means I didn’t do well on the first. Full of computations on the first testlet. I studied using Rogers and was able to pass the other 3. Really sad right now.

How’d you feel about your sims? Mine were doable but insanely long and I had to cut them short because I was worried I wouldn’t have enough time for the wc

Sims were strange. Stuff that wasn’t in my review course at all.

How were your McQ though? Did u understand how to do all the computations? I had 15-20 computations in the first testlet. And a ton of IT. Did you feel the same?

I took BEC on 7/17 and I felt like my first MC testlet was really hard. The second one got easier so that’s not good. The Sims were manageable and the writing was fairly easy. I was disappointed because I didn’t get any economics questions and barely any computations which were my strengths. Very disappointed!

    BEC - 7/17/2010

    FAR - 74 (retake 9/2019)

    AUD - 80

    REG - TBD
