BEC B2: Nightmare

Hi guys, I recently took and passed REG and while I passed. Studying for BEC is a whole different story. I am struggling so much with the concepts on B2. Does the test heavily test B2? Are there specific areas of B2 I should definitely know? There is no way in the world I can remember all those little formulas. I am just feeling down because whatever I read or study, the MCQs is like something that is not even taught in the book. I think I will be ok with cost accounting, Econ and IT and B1, but B2, I don’t know what to do 🙁

    Please advise.

    Mel

I actually Googled what is B2…you don't have to remember every formula, just the common ones. If you are that concern about them, remember in the first 5 min of the test and write them down first thing on the scrap paper.

    Know the following:
    – weighted average (how to calculate)
    – basic ratios (just those you learn in school)
    – journal entries

That's about it. What you need to really know is not the millions of formula, but to be able to list them out on paper and know how each one cancel the others. If you are stuck with a mathematical problem, try to plug in with numbers. I usually plug in with number 100.

I think it probably will help better if you give an example of a question you are stuck… rather than asking a whole chapter in general.

You need to understand fully and memorize only the important ratios from i/s and b/s. I/s – gross profit margin, operating and net income margin

B/S- current assets, inventory and a/r turnover ratios

Other ratios, just become familiar with them and you should be fine..
    You will be fine…

    Hi there,
I took BEC a month ago and it was so much harder than I thought-I scored a 64 and I studied only through Roger. People told me not to study for the financial formulas but I had a few MCQ questions that required memorization of those formulas. There were variance analysis questions but no variable or absorption costing. I was surprised by the amount of Econ questions-my test was heavily focused on econ, supply demand cure, equilibrium point, etc. I added Ninja to my studies yesterday and I feel like the Ninja questions are very close to that of the exam

    Using Roger + Ninja

Keep reworking the mcq’s because all those little formulas are gremlins that show up on the exam. Don’t memorize: LEARN! BEC is a mile wide and an inch deep so you have to keep repeating. You can do this. Tell yourself that everyday!

    @Fadelalhendi

Im definitely not an inspiration but i do appreciate your kind compliment. Hopefully you will pass the cpa exam as soon as you can! I do hope that people who are struggling like me can use my many failures to have high sense of urgency everyday to get the exam done as quickly as possible. Its really no fun failing so many exams. I look at my scores often and think to myself, what the hell happened? How did i become an exception to the exception rule?
I wish i can go back in time and do things differently but i cant anymore.
To those who are struggling, please make the appropriate adjustments, study with great focus, and get it done as soon as you can. As you know, history repeats itself. People who pass the first time tend to finish them early. People who fail, tend to fail repeatedly. Make the appropriate adjustments and this is something you can only figure out. Good lùck to all!

Don't go crazy over the formulas. Whatever ones show up in the becker MCQs are the important ones. B4 is the most difficult in terms of concepts from what I remember.
