My exam score report is “comparable” in all sections except Econ “Weaker” I don't know what do or how to restart, I feel sick looking at these materials for a 4th time. I mailed my application again hopefully I can have an NTS within a month. Should I buy a different review course? what study plan would you recommend for retaking BEC for the 4th time? this is my last exam and I AM DESPERATE TO FINISH like anyone else but so hopeless. Any advice would be appreciated . ThanksJune 25, 2020 at 12:41 am #3034614fsugirl2005Participant
Why does it take so long for you to get an NTS? I apply at CPA Central online and I get my NTS by 8pm EST the same day.June 25, 2020 at 3:26 am #3034650
Focus on your weakness critically. Tackle the weakness hard, seems like its econ. My weakness was corp governance and variance analysis. Once i tackled them hard, i finally passed with a 76.June 25, 2020 at 8:31 am #3034686CH89Participant
Sorry to see that you failed, but you were close!
As mentioned above, I would focus on your weaker areas, and drill into them. Econ has always been challenging for me, as I find it difficult to think in that manner. One thing I did to help my understanding was to search some of those MCQs and find a post or a thread regarding that question on Another71.com. Sometimes having another person explain it helps it click.
Keep pushing and keep trying your best to understand those concepts. You will get it next time! Good luck.June 25, 2020 at 10:03 am #3034740DieselParticipant
Two 73's? Goodness, I can tell you that you are WAY too close to give up. You are not allowed to give up. Focus on your weak spot and head back in and kick this things a$$. We are rooting for you.June 26, 2020 at 2:53 pm #3035877June 27, 2020 at 2:21 am #3036240
@fsugirl2005 in CA we have to send a paper application, process time is 4 weeks & now its longer, after I get the approval, I pay for NTS. SUCKS!June 27, 2020 at 2:30 am #3036255
@Diesel I know it sounds bizarre, literally thought its double vision when I was checking my score. I am crushed but I won't give up, unless I started to lose FAR & REG in Dec. I bought Rogers, hopefully I can finally master Econs, pretty much the reason why I failed.June 27, 2020 at 2:34 am #3036258June 27, 2020 at 8:19 am #3036276CPA_VTParticipant
This might be unusual advice but have you considered reviewing Economics topics in a source completely outside of the CPA review industry. I remember looking at Khan Academy for some Econ topics. Or may be a undergrad level text book that explains Micro and Macro Economics concepts a basic level. I find it hard remember specific facts in isolation and do better if I am able to come to conclusion “Relationally” or ‘contextually”. I feel it is worth a try to go outside conventional sources such as Becker, Gleim etc. There are some really high quality online bite-sized lectures on Macro and Micro Economics. That will get your mind off having to look at the same material over and over again. I feel it is worth trying a different tack. You can then come back to Becker/GLEIM and NINJA and hit the MCQ-s hard and I am sure you will feel lot more confident
You are so close,,hang in there, you can do this… So many people on this forum started off with lower scores and still passed it all.June 27, 2020 at 10:24 am #3036345
I completely agree with CPA_VT. I usually rely on Farhat lectures for my CPA studies but since I couldnt pass BEC, I finally decided to look at other videos to finally pass BEC. Farhat lectures are great but some contents are better explained by others. My choice on YouTube lectures, just strictly my opinion.
Economics- Jacob Clifford ( best teacher for micro and macro economics)
Cost accounting- allthingsmathmatics he primary teaches math but he also teaches cost accounting. This guy helped me to pass for sure!June 27, 2020 at 10:47 am #3036363
Courses may offer a good Econ course that will help you.June 27, 2020 at 10:48 am #3036372
Coursera offers Econ. Darn spell check, can’t edit posts.July 4, 2020 at 10:19 pm #3042276
Thanks for the advice. I actually did watch Khan's videos and they're really helpful.July 4, 2020 at 10:21 pm #3042279
Thank you & congrats on finally passing BECJuly 12, 2020 at 5:26 pm #3048519CDGuest
If BEC failed in July, is that the next re-take would be Oct as we cannot take it in the same window, is that correct?July 12, 2020 at 10:12 pm #3048687
Become an active member in this forum and you can get all the updated info on CPA. Starting from july of 2020, we have a continuous testing which means you can get tested as many as you want. I guess AICPA wants to take more money from our pockets. Lol and 😭🧐December 3, 2020 at 4:57 pm #3037263
@CPAHOPE OMG you took BEC 7 times!respect!!!!!!! how did you manage to pass after all? Did you lose any credits? I fuckin hate BEC & yes Econs is my weakest area, never took any Econs classes neither finance that's why having hard time understanding even the fundamentals, I bought Rogers and I began to understand a little more.December 3, 2020 at 10:37 pm #3174024
Yeah, i totally underestimated this exam. I thought i would pass fairly easily since ive always excelled in everything i did. I was totally wrong with this exam. I got crushed and im getting more crushed 🤮 i finally passed BEC because i realized i had to rely on other sources to finally pass. I found allthingsmathmatics on YouTube and he helped me tremendously with cost accounting. Now BEC is one of my favorites lol
Also without my familys emotional and financial help, i would've quit long time ago. Also, im way too persistent of a person. I reallly really hate giving up. I told DOCJ id rather pass and die then giving up and he thought this was a ridiculous statement. Back to cheap coffee n studyingDecember 3, 2020 at 10:48 pm #3174030
REG expiring end of Dec 2020, retake FAR N AUD SOONDecember 4, 2020 at 1:14 pm #3174360Professor FarnsworthParticipant
I'm sorry, I know its frustrating, but you're not alone! Hear me out, you have been using Becker for BEC and it's clearly not working (sorry for being harsh), how about trying another review course and just start fresh. I know that at least for Roger you can buy just one section of the CPA exam, so get BEC from Roger. Honestly I think Roger has the best platform out there and best lectures. I think the price for one section is around $650, so that's like what? 2 BEC exams, and potentially more? I promise you, a fresh start would help a lot. Try the trial version first and see if you like it.
Good luck and don't lose hope!December 4, 2020 at 7:27 pm #3174753
