    Questions of the day:

    1. How can NASBA say in the same sentence they are working really hard to fix the problem and ALSO scores won't be out until Monday at the earliest? If they are working so hard, how do they know they won't fix the problem in an hour, or 2 hours…here's the translation: "We know you can't take your business elsewhere so we really don't care. We're taking the weekend off – see you on Monday"

    2. Obviously NASBA doesn't have a good IT department. In any other company, if their website malfunctioned for more than an hour, people start losing their jobs. If our website malfunctions for more than 5 minutes our mgt start freaking out because we don't want to lose customers. That said, how are we to trust that they aren't mixing up our scores. I'm losing faith in their competence at this point.

Seth, I completely agree! I took FAR in July and still haven't heard about the result of that and now BEC is being delayed too I've completely lost faith and don't trust this "system" Its ridiculous and not fair.

I hv begun to hate all this process, this was my first exam and first score to receive , with all this I m seriously regretting to join it only.

I dont have that much problem with the delay a heartbreaking thing is that NASBA PEOPLE cant disclose an eta on their website mentioning their problems. We would hv been satisfied

My thoughts exactly, Seth. People start bitching if the systems are down for five seconds, let alone five days.

Please hear me out of this everyone. IÂ’ve put a lot of thought into this situation over the past 24 hours.

Last window they had an IT issue – they thought they fixed it. This window they have an IT issue – they’ll think they fixed it. Any guess on next window? My guess is they’ll have another one because they lack the incentive to really put their best effort into dealing with this.

    Solution:

I’ve wanted to call the 800 number or my state rep and give them a piece of my mind several times but then thought – the people we talk to don’t have any say in the matter and aren’t responsible whatsoever. Doing so would only make their day worse and accomplish nothing. We shouldn't take our frustration out of people who just work for NASBA.

However, somewhere within NASBA is a guy or lady or maybe a group who has made the conscious decision NOT to invest in appropriate equipment/systems. Via their annual report, revenues were $24MM and increase to net assets were $4MM – so that decision wasn’t made due to lack of funds.

Homework for the weekend: we need to figure out who is the director of IT and what his/her extension is and e-mail address. On Monday, I’d say we each leave him/her a message and an e-mail. Maybe 5,000 voicemails will send a message. Unfortunately, public servants tend to only react when they are uncomfortable – the squeakiest wheel gets the grease scenario.

Thoughts? I know the NASBA extensions are 4 digits. Has anyone ever seen an org chart?

What you'll probably find out is that IT is outsourced. Therefore, there's no incentive to the contractor to improve the system. Quite the opposite; the more stuff breaks down equals MO MONEY. So why doesn't NASBA make the decision unilaterally or fire the contractor? Because the employee who hired the contractor is the head cheese whose boo-tay is methodically kissed by the head of the IT ccmpany. The head cheese gets all the latest tech equipment to try out for good measure. No kickbacks but cool, cheap gadgets (basically, high-tech junk). Combine this 'Christmas every day' euphoria with refusal to acknowledge a bad choice of contractor and wah-lah, you have a broken down system that keeps Dilbert relevant.

My state only gives results by snail mail from the State Board. Does this IT issue effect how soon the State Board will get the results or only candidates waiting on e-scores?

The whole process stinks. If they are going to put a 18 month window on passing and then take six months and make them non-testing plus take 1 to 3 months for grades to get out, they need to rethink things. They are very inefficient for a profession that stresses efficiency. The best part of passing will not be the raises and/or better jobs, but not having to deal with these a!$* clowns anymore!

Just count yourselves lucky that you are not in a non-NASBS, mail-out only state. I have to sit here every wave and read through the drama, knowing that it will be at least a week later before I get my score via Pony Express. By the time I get my score and come back to post either a happy post or a "manic-depressant-haven't-slept-more-than-six-hours-in-six-months-nearly-been-fired-100-times-lost-all-my-friends-cave-dwelling-I'm-a-complete-failure" post, everybody has left the board.

I agree, NASBA's IT is probably outsourced. Which means that they didn't want to pay extra to have the service call on a weekend. So to save a couple bucks they are waiting till Monday…

    NASBA Management= Epic Fail

ExamGoAway, my post wasn't directed at you, by the way. I was typing while you were posting.

NASBA has no effect on the snail mail states, period. It's an administrative convenience decision for the states to have score distribution handled by NASBA. My state board can't even spell NASBA.

I am with you CPAarrgghh! It is so frustrating to watch all the posts after everyone receives their scores knowing that it will be 7-9 days later before you get yours!

My state board called me yesterday and said that they are considering an upgreade from donkey to Shetland pony to deliver scores so I should be thankful, I guess.

So if your a mail out state only, the AICPA sends your scores to the state board instead of NASBA and then the state board mails them directly to you?

BTW, CPA AARRGGG, your post was pretty funny.
