    Hi everyone. I have a question regarding accounting software that I hope everyone here with experience can provide insight on. I’m a recent college graduate working on my CPA with no prior accounting work experience and am looking to get into this field. Are there any accounting software that I should learn and be proficient in? Thanks and good luck to everyone taking a section in these final few days.

    I would definitely say Quickbooks is a good one to be proficient in.

    It depends on what you want to do. I work at a bank and I never use Quickbooks or any other software that you could get your hands on. I did see it a little bit when I worked at a CPA firm (when having to sort out people's crap, uhg).

    I would work on Excel skills if I were you. I thought I was pretty good with Excel when I graduated, but I have learned SO much since then. Learn about lookup tables, pivot tables, etc if you don't already know how to use them. Your boss at whatever job that you end up getting will most likely be impressed. I don't know of a lot of accounting jobs that don't require extensive Excel use.

    All any employer is going to expect is good microsoft office skills (Excel, word, outlook, etc.). Beyond that, you should receive on the job training for the specific accounting programs they use. I work in auditing, and everywhere I go the accounting software is different and there is really no way to practice on it.

    Another area that you may want to get comfortable is the FASB CODIFICATION database. It wouldn't be bad idea to get comfortable with how to look up relevant accounting standards in the database.

    FAR 10/1/2010 =====> 90
    BEC 10/28/2010 ====> 81
    REG 2/2/2011 ======> 82
    AUD 5/28/2011 =====> 92 ===========>DONE!!!!
