Is a this a desirable schedule that will give me an edge?

Here’s my situation, I will be in my final year of an undergrad BS Accounting degree program this coming September. I plan to get my Masters in Accounting the following year (starting September 2011). However, I am planning to take my CPA exam in August of 2011, before I start my Masters program. Many people take and pass the CPA exam right out of their undergraduate programs, so that bit doesn’t concern me too much.

However, I was wondering if I might be a more desirable job candidate for the 2011 fall hiring season if I already have my CPA tests (or even part of them) out of the way before entering my Masters program. It may seem like a obvious question, but I really want to know if it would give me a better edge in this tough job market when it comes to getting hired.

    Thanks

I feel that having a few sections or the whole thing done would certainly look good. You're not the only one to do this, so it's not like it makes you a sure thing for hiring, but it certainly can't hurt at all, and I think firms would look favorably on it.

I would recommend getting an internship because those often lead to jobs. Plus, many firms pay for the study materials, which are EXPENSIVE. Also, there is a BIG difference between someone who can answer multiple choice questions and someone who can apply what they learned. If all you have is the CPA exam and 0 experience, then you still arent that desirable because you still know very little in the real world. However, you would be more desirable than someone with 0 experience and 0 CPA exams passed.
