I’m looking for some advice and am hoping you guys can help.

I’m starting to look for a part time job come tax season in order to get some experience and practice with clients and tax returns. I became a cpa in July and currently am fully employed.

I don’t intend to leave my day job and am guessing that most firms would like temporary help for just the tax season and nothing else.

My question is, how much should I ask for in terms of hourly pay? I don’t have that much experience doing people’s taxes, but work full time in accounting systems and have over 10 years experience (I currently work in a corporate tax department) in accounting and financial systems. So it’s not like I don’t bring anything to the table. I also have a masters degree in accounting and an mba…

    Your feedback is appreciated.

    Many thanks.

    Scott

Depends on the firm and the hours you are available to work. Just being completely realistic (I realize we may not see eye to eye on this), I'd be ‘open' in terms of pay and see what places would offer you – even if they throw out a range you could determine based on that range if you'd be interested in it or not.
