ParticipantHas anyone here take UNA online accounting classes associated with Wiley? I need 24 credits to fulfill 150 hours requirements and just wondering how's your experience with UNA/Wiley? I looked at the previous threads and didn't find much information on UNA. How's UNA compared to LSU? UNA said each semester last 2 months and students have 2 semesters to finish a course. Are 2 months for each course sufficient enough?
I'm trying to figure out which way I should go. If I take CPA exam in April/May window, I won't get my result until August. and if I fail then have to re-take failed section. Has anyone taken online class and study for CPA exam at the same time?

ParticipantI am pretty much in the exact same boat as you…I have UNA bookmarked on my internet browser. I have one test left to go and am debating whether or not I start taking my last credits in that gap period between the test and August.
I was going to call my state board to see if they will accept UNA credits. I read somewhere that they do not count for the accounting credits you need for at least NY. So be careful with that.
Anyway, looking forward to what anyone else has on this matter.

Participantacardone51,
I have a bachelor in accounting with 127 credits and eligible to sit for an exam in VA. Board of accountancy said just take any classes to fulfill the requirement. Even county college is fine with them. I believe as long as it is not same class # from the same university then they will accept it. Also, now UNA has AACSB accreditation so that is a plus.

ParticipantI took 3 classes and UNA and loved them. They are go at your own pace- and you have 2 semesters to complete them. Tests are open notes/open books. Lectures are short- I think the longest was maybe 45 minutes? so I made a calendar that could work with my work/life schedule and finished. Took audit and both tax classes. Plan to take more after CPA exam…as I'm still short 9 credits for licensure.

ParticipantI am at 137 credits right now. I am taking REG 5/24, passed the others. Debating taking some classes at a local community college in NY to get those extra 13 credits. I was told I could take the credits in any subject. It is quite ridiculous you can fulfill the 150 credit requirement by taking any class for college credit once you've finished up the accounting requirements. Now I have to waste my time in some bs undergrad class. Anybody else feeling the same?

ParticipantMommy CPA,
How was the exam? Was it harder since it's open book/note?

ParticipantAjm317,
I feel same way. 150 hours requirement is total BS. It doesn't serve any purpose. Just another barrier in obtaining a license. Once you have license, you have to do CPE anyway. Master in accountancy is pure cash cow for universities. AICPA has created all these BS to discourage, annoyed some people so they give up and CPA market gets less saturated. What a wonderful time we live in!

Participant@meseusy, I didn't- for the classes they highlight which sections are tested on for the classes. So I just focused on those when I was in the class. I finished the classes last year and I am still able to get in and click on different sections/topics and watch the videos. It looks like they expire maybe a year or two after? I am not sure on the timing. I would tell her just to do the classes and see how long she has access for before buying the prep class too. I would also strongly suggest NINJA MCQ.

InactiveI just signed up for my fourth UNA class. I took Financial Accounting, Auditing, Management Accounting and I am about to do Taxation.
It really is a great deal. You get 3 semester credits and the Wiley CPAExcel material (which doubles as the course material) so you can study for the exam while you get your credits, for $475.
As mentioned above, you go at your own pace and you have two semesters to finish the course.
Your access to the Wiley CPAExcel material expires after one year.

InactiveJust FYI
The UNA courses no longer provide you with updated study material so if you intend to use this course to study, you will need to supplement with other relevant study material.

ParticipantHow easy/difficult are the UNA classes and how quickly can you get through them?

ParticipantHey guys! I also had a couple of questions regarding the UNA courses
1 – How do you check your final grade once the semester is complete?
2 – If you didn't complete a course in the first semester, how do you start the second semester?
3 – How can I add course to the calendar on my dashboard? Like scheduling classes, assessments and exams just to keep myself on track.AUD - 82
