    Missed Audit again by 1 competency point. I think I'm going to stop for a while. I am tired and suffering from mommy guilt and a sinus issue that I can't seem to get rid of. I have spent so much money and can't afford to keep paying for exams without taking on new clients. At that point, I likely won't have time to study.

    My accounting practice has wonderful income potential(I do well right now) because of the niche but I wanted the CPA license to make pulling in more business a lot easier. In reality, I don't need the license because I have 20+ years of experience doing what I do. I really need to rethink this path. I wanna cry so bad because I just don't know what to do right now. My FAR score is due back on the night of 8/24 and depending on what that score is, it will make my decision for me.

    Congrats to those who have been able to do this.

    @fsugirl you have had quite a year don’t let this exam make you rethink everything. Take a break, with some rest, you will bounce back. You sound like someone who doesn’t take defeat lying down. Hug your kids, love yourself, and come back fighting. You’ve got this!

    @chrissy, I hate it for you. This year sucks. Shake it off and go for it. Positive self-talk matters. Be kind to yourself then go get it!

    @monikernc

    You are absolutely right! I have never been one to just throw in the towel and give up. I just did some thinking and regrouping. I'm just going to push my tests back out to December to allow myself to really focus. My child has been home and it has been really difficult to study. He goes back to school in two weeks so I will use that alone time to study in silence. If I have to take on a client, I'll just have to do that. I'll make it work but I want to pass this test! This has been my dream since I was 14 and I am slightly over 40 so I'm no spring chicken…lol.

    Thanks for your encouragement. It is really needed right now.

    @fsugirl compared to me you are a spring chicken. I am three days older than dirt and I am lying about that. A good break is what you need – keep in mind changes are coming to the licensing process so make sure your delay doesn’t screw your eligibility. Take care of you and the family.

    To those who didn’t pass – the exam you didn’t pass is history. Let it go and move forward. Don’t beat yourself up – positive self-talk matters. Do your daily affirmations. Everyone of you is hard working and smart and have your entire life ahead. Embrace what your future holds. I loved studying, braced myself for each exam, and sweated the waits for scores but I would do it again in a second. I learned so much about accounting, myself, and what the world expects of me in order to succeed at this.
    This forum is meant to provide support for each and every one of you but it is also here to provide you with the opportunity to lend support to others. Be brave and engage! Give and get as you need to. If you are having a hard time passing remember: If you want things to change you have to do something different! So do what it takes.

    So I guess the CPA exams are hard. Who knew? Congratulations to all who passed. It is a sweet victory and truly well-deserved for I am quickly realizing just how much work is required to pass these. I just found out I failed AUD. I failed FAR when I took it for the first time back in December.

    As disappointed as I am, I have been able to embrace this latest failure and feel even more determined to pass the next time around. Most of all, I am grateful for having been given the opportunity to show my son the importance (and even excitement) of dusting oneself off and getting back on the horse. I am happy that I get to show him that not getting it right the first time is ok, and need not be something that gets us down. Obviously being sad and upset is a totally normal and perfectly fine response. But today he got to give me a big hug and kiss and see that his Mommy was not giving up; that she would try even harder to do better and had full confidence that she would eventually succeed.

    So, thank you 63 and thank you 68 for showing me and my son how bittersweet and lovely life's journey can be.
