ParticipantHi All, I don't think there are many reviews on the new Ninja Plus videos, so I'm taking the time to participate. I've been on the CPA study track for 2 years now and have used Becker, Roger and Ninja Blitz videos.
I have to say that I'm a big fan of Roger videos. He's awesome. Ninja Blitz is good, but it works best as a supplement to hit all the important topics in a quick short of time. I'm not a fan of Becker videos and other stuff out there.
I purchased the Ninja Plus Videos for FAR and although it is creepy to know you are watching someone that has passed away, the guy is amazing. He seems to break things down easily and I feel like I'm re-learning accounting. I wish I had him as a professor.
At any rate, I think that if you are looking for someone to teach you the material, these videos are pretty solid. I used Roger videos for BEC, AUD, and REG. However, I'm not willing to pay the extra premium for the FAR section.
So if you are on the fence, buy it. Although there may be new rules on certain things since the passing of the gentleman in the videos, everything he talks about still applies.
My materials before: Roger Videos, Ninja MCQ, Ninja Blitz, Ninja Notes, Ninja Audio, Wiley SIMS (only for SIM purposes)
My new materials: Ninja Plus Videos, Ninja MCQ, Ninja Blitz, Ninja Notes, Ninja Audio

Participantat the least, it is a good review that goes a little more in depth than ninja blitz. you may also pick up some certain pointers on stuff that hasn't been mentioned in the ninja materials that may benefit you. it also may present a weak area of yours from a different perspective that may help u gain a better understanding of that specific weak area. for me, I'm reviewing with it about 3 weeks of for FAR because it is so much longer than the other sections, and i am going to be using Blitz 2-3 days out as my final review as well.

ParticipantI was just wondering if anyone purchased the videos, I have a coupon for another company to get their videos, but I am a true ninja so I was looking to see if anyone has benefited yet. 🙂

Participantthe ninja plus videos aren't really comprehensive enough to be a standalone study course. i think its a lot better for reviewing than as using it as ur basis for reviewing the material. think of it as a more in-depth than Blitz, but not as comprehensive as a ninja book. if you just use the plus videos as a learning tool, i think you would be missing out on some key details that ninja book provides

KeymasterNINJA PLUS is on par with a CRAM … although I think a CRAM (not sure why I always capitalize that, but I do) + MCQ is a legit study tool.
I passed AUD in 2 weeks with this material.

InactiveAm using Ninja Plus (and Wiley CPAexel book) to study for FAR. I go through the videos and then hit the ninja MCQS and then, if I have time, I'll do the Wiley MCQS.
Some of the material is outdated though. Question of defined benefit plans:
Ninja Plus lists 6 elements of pension expense using the mnemonic SIR PAT:
1. Service costs
2. Interest on PBO
3. Return on plan assets
4. Prior year service costs
5. Actuarial gain/loss
6. Transition asset/ transition obligationIs number 6 still applicable? I noticed in the Ninja notes and Wiley book they do not include this. Thanks

ParticipantI can tell you that NINJA Plus played a YYYYUUUGE (as someone from Vermont would say) role in passing on December 9.
He doesn't rely on memory tricks or highlighting alone. But he always brings it back to a decent summary. Where possible he uses journal entries to explain topics.
The one subject I don't think is strong is business consolidatations. I feel like he made it too simple. For that, stumplbling through multiple guess questions on your own is better for this topic. Then just search on this forum for additional guidance. Just my opinion.
…
Honestly, I must've kicked ass on the MCQ because the new SIM and another which I can't say gave me fits.
The videos definitely helped give me a strong focus and approach.
I will be more than happy, Jeff, to write a more formal tutorial.
Either way, I will say that and the NINJA MCQ are a smart and cheap investment.

ParticipantAnything with Bob Monette is worth watching. I only watched some of the BEC videos and he was the only instructor I found helpful. If he's in any of the FAR videos then I'd suggest checking them out.
Anyone use Ninja Plus for REG? I have it, but not sure it's worth watching since I already have Roger. I skimmed through a couple lectures and the instructors damn near put me to sleep.

ParticipantRespect,
I only needed to pass FAR when I heard about Plus.
However, between this forum, IRS.gov and this for pass-thru entities (https://tax.cchgroup.com/downloads/files/contemporary-tax-practice/Module4/Topic3/B-Corporate-Alternative-Minimum-Tax-Computations.asp) you should be fine. Then just take whichever MCQ.
