Hi, so I am planning on taking the FAR exam in Sept and I have UWorld Roger CPA Review. I was wondering if anyone used Roger/UWorld and passed the FAR exam. How did you do it? I have just started the lectures and taking notes, I have tried a set of multiple choice questions, but I am doing awful. I feel so discouraged and I am so nervous about all the information that is going to be covered in FAR. I just need some guidance and words of encouragement please!

    Thank You!

I don’t know about Roger/UWorld but I can tell you that you are eating an elephant and must take one bite at a time. Positive self-talk matters. You will have to learn the exam material but you will also learn how the questions are structured and how you will be tested. So it is a lot. Nothing you can rush right into so relax, take a breath, tell yourself you CAN DO this and enjoy your elephant!

I initially used Wiley in 2017 and failed FAR. Passed it in 2018 after switching to Roger. One thing I did was enjoyed his lectures by hooking it up to my big screen TV instead of watching him on a laptop screen. Made the experience fun (as much fun as accounting can be LOL), as if Roger was in front of me in my living room. My husband liked to joke that he would come home and there I was, with another man LOL.

Seriously though, it's normal to be nervous and overwhelmed. FAR is the beast with a ton of material. Just take it in one at a time & trust the process.

I passed FAR using Roger last fall with an 82 on my first attempt. I took it very slow and reread/rewatched several sections and repetitively reworked problems with calculations since my biggest issue was completing calculations in the time I allotted myself. I studied for 4 months because I was working full time and I have kids. I have also found it helpful to print out SIMs and work them out by hand so I can take notes, draw arrows, etc. to better understand the material. Take your time and make sure to take cumulative practice tests so you don’t forget the previous material as you progress.

I used Roger + Wiley test bank to pass FAR and REG. I used just Roger to pass AUD.
I really like the way Roger presents/teaches the information. It was easy to understand and he broke down tough topics really well. The test banks were kind of hit or miss for me. I felt that after attempting the same FAR questions over and over, I needed something else, so Wiley TB was perfect. I found the questions to be harder than Roger's TB.

Thank You Everyone for your advice and encouraging words! I plan on taking it slow and making sure I nail down each topic before I move on to the next. If I end up needing more time then I will reschedule. I am currently furloughed, and have two boys under the age of 5, I got this…I hope! 🙂
