FAR HELP!

So I’ve been pushing back my FAR exam since July. I’ve struggled to stay motivated through weeks of studying and now I’m down to my last few days before the exam (which is Saturday).

I need advice as to what to spend my remaining study time on. I realize this is not ideal, but I haven’t opened the book on the Govt sections, but at this point I just want to take the exam and see where the chips fall.

I have completed the Becker material for all sections except the State & Local Gov’t (sections 9 and 10). My initial thoughts are to spend a good deal going back and reviewing all the other material since it’s been weeks since I initially went through the sections. And if I have time, at least watch the lectures on State and Local Govt and what sticks with me, sticks with me.

Anyone else have thoughts? My Becker book says generally the govt accounting stuff is tested at about 5-15% of the FAR exam so it’s the smallest part of the exam, hopefully I won’t see too many questions on it.

Fingers crossed! Could use some good thoughts thrown my way this week!

I would strictly advise against having the “whatever happens, happens” approach with government. I can honestly say a quarter of my exam was government.

    BEC - 83
    FAR - 81
    REG - 85

Govt is a big topic – jump into it. Studying since July is a long time. Take a practice exam and/or the AICPA sample exam and see how you do. Strengthen your weak areas and go in strong in all areas. You can do this!

There will ALWAYS be governmental questions on the test. 100%. You want to make sure you go over at least the basics. I would recommend focus on governmental questions that are related to “schools, hospitals, non-profit, transportations (roads)”. 75% of the calculation questions are from these few businesses.

As far as your test date, sometimes you just need to DO IT. Set a date, push yourself to the limit, and take the test regardless of what you felt like at the moment. You need an actual score to do the weighted-out and see how far you are from 75. Maybe you will pass!
