    hello everyone.

If i missed out completely 2 of 7 sims and feel 100% only comfortable with 3 of the 7 and also comfortable with multiple choice can I still pass?

    What are your thoughts?

5/7 sims correct could theoretically equate to ~29% of your grade, and the MCQ's are another 60%.

Put another way, missing 2 sims completely would forego 10-11% completely, unless there is an additional penalty for unanswered content.

I would think if ALL other questions were answered correctly you would easily pass.

Thanks for your response..What did you think about the sims? I felt that the ones I had were very long in terms of reading directions and interpreting and answering them in time. navigation wasnt the best either because scrolling up and down all the time is annoying

Well it should be noted that the CPA exam is graded on a points basis. Depending on how many points you score on the sims due to their assigned values by the Aicpa. You will be awarded x % of the 40% sim weight to your overall score. So yes if you do 4 correctly and they gain you enough points you can pass. You don't need to get x % correct to have a chance of passing. It's more about get x % of questions that will gain you more points.

Don't forget that there's always a possibility that one of the SIMs you skipped was a pretest.

I took FAR on 8/30 and ran out of time on the SIMs as well. I didn't answer one of them and a couple of others are shaky. My questions were alse very long and involved…a lot of math as well. I am really hoping the pretest SIM was either the one I didn't answer or one of the ones I feel shaky on. I think I did really well on the MCQ's.

Just to make sure I am clear on the scoring…if I got 60/75 = 80% on the MCQ's, I could still get higher than 80% because some questions count for more than others, correct?

It is true the questions are weighted and not all of the questions or the SIMs count toward your grade.

You could still pass, with what you said about the SIMs and leaving two undone. Maybe the two you left out don't count. Or one of them doesn't. It's impossible to know. Maybe you did better than you think on the ones you answered.

I walked out of FAR100% positive that I failed. I didn't leave anything unanswered but felt there were many questions I was not prepared for, like all of the IFRS questions. There was at least one SIM, maybe more (the memory is fading, thank God) that asked IFRS questions. I think I put 0 for every answer because I had no clue. I could swear the research question was written in a foreign language.

I got an 81 and will never stop being stunned about it.

Good luck! Hopefully you will also be happily stunned when the results come out.

I completed all of my sims, but two of them I might as well of left blank.

Evesocal – I hope my experience is the same as yours, because I've pretty much conceded that I didn't pass this go around. Governmental/NFP & IFRS absolutely KILLED me.
