Yeah same here. MCQ and first set of sims weren't too bad. But was rushed on the final sims and there were so many exhibits to sift through. I left feeling demoralized after what I considered a good showing on the MCQ/first set of sims.

I just took FAR today…. my brain hurts. I walked out thinking I have a 50/50 shot. I was fairly confident on all the sims except the last one which was a behemoth and I only had 8 minutes to do it. Oh well, hopefully I did enough on the other sections.

If someone with a Georgia "edumucation" can do this, you can too. Stay positive and work hard!

I'm retaking FAR tomorrow morning after failing my first attempt with a 70. Really hoping I can pull at least a 75 on this one and get FAR out of the way.

Just took FAR this morning and boy it was without a doubt a holy shiiiiiit experience. MCQs were pretty ok I didn't get the feeling of “what's going on here”. Was hoping to get the 2nd testlet a little harder. Oh well. Sims though, those murderous Sims, killed me about 4 times during the second half of exam. Got 1 bank reconciliation which I was happy about at first. Then I could only fill in about half which of course didn't balance in the end. And then 1 big lease with a ton of exhibits and 1 adjusting entry question I should have done better if there was time.. Anyways, since everyone felt murdered after FAR and half ended up passing. I guess now it's 3.5 weeks of impatiently waiting ..

I took my FAR on Friday, and it seems like I had the same version as you. I had the same SIM topics you mentioned, and the same troubles you had. Either these SIMS are meant to fail takers, or to see how much a candidate can figure out under extreme pressure. The last testlet had unfairly long SIMs, which you wouldn't normally expect. I took other sections before, and the last testlet was usually the easiest.

Is anyone here using Becker? I find Becker's SIMS instructions are very confusing sometimes. I mean sometimes it doesn't specifically ask you a question, but give you a tables with lots of columns and rows to fill in. I wonder if on the real exam, the questions are clear?

Just got home from taking FAR this morning. MCQs weren't a big deal. But, got to the sims and totally blew chunks. I mean, blew chunks. Only 1 research sim. The remaining 7 – I'll just say leases / consolidations were a HUGE sim topic today. I don't think divulging that is a violation of the rules. And, it wasn't just like one lease on a sim…it would be multiple leases that you had to evaluate. Oh, and they were all fill in the blank. All of them.

I'm going to seriously be lucky to get a 70 on that.

That's my fault though. I didn't spend much time on sims. I did look at the ones available through NINJA. Let me say that the ones on the test are in a whole other universe. Half the time I didn't even know what they were asking me to do.

I'll see what the score is when they release on May 23rd and just get ready to do a lot of sims and retake in July if I have to – which, yeah, I'm pretty sure I will.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I retook FAR today. The first time I took it the MCQs were okay. This time I felt both testlets were challenging. I took extra time on each. The TBS was super hard the first time. This time the TBS was hard. The last TBS, I couldn’t figure out how to reconcile, there were too many documents to review and I didn’t do any practice similar in my review course. First time I took FAR I knew I failed. I thought I would get 30-40. I got a 63. Today I feel like maybe I have a chance. Hopefully I did enough for a 75. It would really suck to have to study for this again. First I time studied for 3 months. After I got the fail I went to Audit studied for a little over a month. After I got my passing score I started studying again for FAR. I studied for 2 months… hopefully this was enough. I’ll find out in 19 days.

Thank you for sharing it, guys. I have noticed that the difficulty of testlets changes noticeably when one retakes the exam. I think the goal of examinators is to make things unexpected and see what a candidate would do in the situation. The reconciliation SIM on my exam was completely out of the blue. I do bank recs at work for different clients from Fortune 500, one of them is extremely extensive with 10 accounts at the same time, but the bank rec SIM I got on the exam made me feel nonplussed.

I tend to over analyze things…and still thinking about the sims from today. Not one basic TBS and not one DRS. I mean, I would have given my left arm for a DRS at this point. 7 out of the 8 were enhanced fill in the blank sims. I mean, I don't think I could have had worse luck.

Good luck everyone. I'm going to put this one to bed and quit worrying about it since there isn't anything I can do but wait until May 23rd and then hop back in the saddle.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend. Good luck to you Keycat! Hope you knock your last one out of the park. 🙂
