Murphy’s Law sure did apply this morning to me.

I got to the exam center & they were running behind so we weren’t allowed in until after 7:30am, mind you my exam was scheduled for 8:00am.

I was the first one to sign in and when I went to get finger printed…the machine wasn’t working properly, she saw my name in the roster but couldn’t find my paperwork. Then when they had to reprint EVERYTHING again they signed me in and when I went to my computer, it didn’t work. They kept trying but to no avail. They had to call the global communications center to sort this out.

Mind you again, my exam was supposed to start at 8am. They FINALLY get it up and running…could you imagine being me sitting there through all this going is this real? Am I really going to take this exam or what?

Well, I did take it and it was just as awful as I had imagined. I didn’t think I did awful on the MCQ but I did think by testlet 3 they were a lot harder as there were more I had to go back to and some I had to guess on.

As for the SIMS? Well that sealed my fate, they were AWFUL! I mean when I saw I just had to start guessing I mean I had to start just making things up. I sat there with 25 minutes left feeling so defeated because I knew there was nothing more I could do to make this better. I gave 150% but I am most certain I did not pass thanks to the simulations. I didn’t leave any completely blank, but I sure did make things up and guess.

I am sad and depressed but I refuse to think about it anymore until scores come out because its over with and it was my first exam and I really did try my best. I am so burnt out and exhausted I don’t know how I will start AUD on Thursday.

    Happy friggen Monday 🙁

That sounds awful! It is bad enough taking the exam but to have to go through all that extra stuff, wow. I've taken FAR once and the sims killed me too. All of mine except the research one was on the same topic and I had a really hard time with that topic so I had no chance. But you never know, you may have passed it anyways. Good luck! Hope to hear good news soon that you passed.

I was absolutely certain I failed due to the SIMS. I know I didn't get the research question and for another SIM, I ran out of time. For the rest of the SIMS, I answered everything — but I did not feel confident AT ALL regarding any of my answers. I was absolutely certain I failed… but I didn't. I passed with an 82. Sounds like if your MCQ got harder, you did well on the MCQ and you also probably got more points for the SIMS than you think.

Also, it was my first one, too. I think part of the devastation comes from it being the first exam. I know I wasn't used to standardized testing. I'm used to going into exams in college and feeling pretty confident about all the material. A standardized test is an entirely different beast. It's really hard to tell how well you did… as you can see from other posts on this message board. Most people walk out feeling like they failed.

    FAR 7/3/13 - 82
    BEC 8/21/13 - 82
    AUD 10/2/13 - 92
    REG 12/3/13 - 88

I took FAR yesterday for the fourth time and the Sims were just…from another planet! I totally hear you there! The only one I know I got credit on was the research, all the others were JEs that were never really divulged into in Becker or if they were, the same accounts were not offered as an option! It was absolutely ridiculous. In all the other times I took the exam, I never had sims so terrible. Usually there may be one or two which are bad but ALL and I mean ALL of them besides research I didn't know what they were asking or it was never covered.

I had the same experience with you on the MCQ, I felt pretty good about it…but the sims killed me and I don't even know how I would have been confident in them had I known the book back and forth.

    B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
    A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
    R 65 - 48 - 45
    F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64

Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Wiley Text and Ninja Notes

"The fish who keeps on swimming is the first to chill upstream" -311

Experience - Done, like WAAAY done.
Still need 30 more credits, in basket weaving (gotta love new CA requirements)

Also had a crazy day at Prometric. They must have had some new guy working who kept calling people in out of order and everyone was pissed and cranky that others were being called before them….

Its just ironic how restrictive and regulating Prometric is supposed to be and they can't even get organized themselves…

I took FAR on 08/24/13 at 8:30 AM. The experience with Prometric that I had was alright. The test was really hard and exhausting. Had to take one break. I don't think I passed. The SIMS really slaughtered me. One of the SIMS i know for sure i did not do right. The MCQ were hard and some of them I had to guess. My result will be known in a couple of weeks but I feel I should start preparing to retake this freaking test…. Felt really frustrated after I came out of the test room…

    FAR - 89
    AUD - 84
    BEC - 84
    REG - 49, 86
    ETHICS - 96........ DONE!!!

I left FAR thinking I bombed it. I was in the middle of the SIMS just shaking my head because I had no effing clue. I tried my best and didn't leave any blank, but I felt like I was just guessing on most of the SIMS. I had two research questions that I knew I got, but that was it. Maybe another SIM I felt 50/50 on, but all of them were terrible. I remember thinking that I just wanted to quit, get up and leave, and start studying from the beginning. I didn't even feel great on the MCQ's. I left thinking I failed and was planning to start studying again. But I pulled through with a 76. I saw the score and my jaw DROPPED. I called over my boyfriend to look with me so I knew I wasn't hallucinating/dreaming, haha.

Point is: ANYTHING is possible. You tried your best and that's all you can do. That's all we all do. This exam sometimes seems so random with what they throw at you.

    R - *77*(02/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    A - 71('11); *87*(04/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    F - *76*(08/'13)-Becker & NINJA - "server upgrade" survivor
    B - 60('11); *82*(10/'13) -Becker & NINA

    DONE, DONE, AND DONE.

I took FAR yesterday too. I walked out feeling horrible. I know I didnt pass. I completed the entire Wiley review book, did over 1000 questions probably online between wiley online review and the cpa for free. Reviewed all the AICPA 2012-2013 released MCQs, and felt lost. Some of the problems I would calculate and my answer wouldn't even be close to theres and I would have no idea how they got there. Feeling defeated and now I know I have to retake it and it is so discouraging.
