I took FAR on August 26, it practically knocked my cape off 🙂 I probably don't have a chance of passing, but I have heard stranger things have happened with FAR. Oh well, if I don't pass, I will simply hit the books again. I have been doing it for the better part of the last year anyway, what's another couple months of studying.

    cpa2009 ~

Maybe you're right about FAR being released third in wave 1, I am not sure. I only know that in VA it was released Aug 20, since this is the day I took my BEC exam; checked the forum – people were getting their results, and I didn't 🙁

    Anita~

I am using Becker. I'm pretty satisfied with it. Congrats on passing Audit!

I think I'd die of old age before getting FAR scores back. Anxiety is unsurmountable.

Jeff, since the AICPA didn't release any score today, is it safe to say that FAR will be push back 1 or 2 days. Well i guess unless they decide to release it second or third.

This exam is horrible. The wait is ridiculous. After coming out of the BEC exam (which I was confident before entering) I was seriously considering quitting. I stopped reading the questions halfway through the third testlet. I got an 84. Thus, the exam has a sick curve. Granted I'm accustomed to knowing everything on exams (college exams) but the CPA does not call for perfection. You just need study a lot so you will be able to answer some questions.

I'm currently waiting for FAR. (I would pay $100 to escape another week of waiting) The first testlet was amazingly easy. The 2nd and 3rd were much harder but I definetely believe I put together enough to pass those. The Sims came out of left field. I'm a VERY slow writer, thus time was a huge issue. I'm curious to as how much you need to write and how strictly graded are the written communications. (A readable memo should be sufficient.. since the exam is testing if you can protect the public .. i mean you don't need to write amazingly to detect fraud or be an adequate accountant) Overall, I wanted to quit again after leaving that exam. (I felt raped) I didn't answer all the sims and research components but now feel optimistic because you don't have to be "that" good to pass. There's still hope even after you think you undoubtedly failed. Does anyone agree with me about still having a shot at passing despite not answering all sims? .. Also, someone posted they budget 30min for each sim and that is sufficient. Good bless you! I wish I could do that. I need to think before I go at it. I'm a ridiculously slow reader as well .. kills me during the whole test. Good luck to everyone. Hopefully we pass so we can call ourselves CPAs and go to parties where we'll be known as people who can fill out a tax return.

NJ Devilz, maybe you know this, but one thing that I learned on this website is that only one of written memos is graded. The other one is pre-test. In my case with auditing, I could almost definitely tell which one… but it's probably not always the case.

Also, in Becker they told us that it is important how well your thoughts are organized and how well you use terminology. Supposedly, they don't grade your knowledge of specific rules, the only thing is that you can't give illegal advice.

Lastly, let's remember that sims are only 30% of your grade and might contain pre-test (not graded) material in them… some people here were saying that they left most of simulations blank and still passed.

So, I am pretty sure that you have passed, especially with you saying that you were able to do harder M/C questions well.

NJ Devilz, I agree with you…the exam and the wait are horrible! I have now been waiting for two months for my FAR score. I took BEC last year and when I got to the third testlet I seriously considered just giving up and walking out….but that's what the test writers want. They want people to be intimidated by the exam. When the pass rate for FAR increased by 5% last quarter, the examiners decided to make FAR even tougher. Then our profession wonders why they cannot recruit more people to become CPAs. lol Between the cost of review materials, hotel rooms on the night before the test, and vacation time that I gave up from my job (time which I could have received in cash), I estimate that I have spent $3,000 (on an after-tax basis) per section to sit for the exam…..which is $12,000 for four parts. The cost of living here in the Northeast is high and with 9% unemployment in MA, it's not as if salaries are increasing to keep up with the cost of living. I am hoping that in time I will earn back that $12k with salary increases, but it will take a long time.

12k? Why do you go to a hotel? Are the testing centers that far away? i have 3 within 50 miles from me in Atlanta. I am waiting on the score for my fourth part and have spent 1.4k. $350 for Gleim test prep material and about $950 for the application and testing fees.
