    Hi all.

Just looking for some opinions and advice.

I’m starting ch. 6 in Becker’s book today. There’s 10 ch’s. Realistically, I don’t see myself getting through the entire book. I work full time and plan on taking the last few days off of work to review, take a mock exam and just hope for the best on exam day! I paid for FAR a while ago and am not able to reschedule it, so that’s not an option for me.

    Thanks y’all.

MCQ marathon. There is hope but its time to turn it up a notch or two.

You can study FAR from start to finish in 3 weeks while working full-time. (I did it, as have many others) Watch videos, hammer MCQs, and read only if you must. Forget about having a life for the next 3 weeks and just put everything you have into it. You don't have to know everything to pass, either. Focus on the important chapters and leave the smallest chapters for last.

Vbmer is correct – you can do this. Get through the chapters and leave at least a full week to review, maybe a little less depending on how much time you're taking off work. The key is doing nothing but work and study for the next 3 weeks.

Vbmer I tend to get hung up on info. & I try to know everything before I move on. Need to remind myself that I don't need to know everything. This usually sets me back and I fall behind on studying. Thanks!

Lindsey I plan on taking 6 days off including exam day. It's picking up at work–will let my boss know tomorrow. I'm sure they won't like the idea, but oh well!

It's absolutely reasonable to push yourself to be ready in 3 weeks. I understand the impulse to try to know everything before moving on, but you really do just need to suck it up and force yourself to keep moving. Focus on getting through the book quickly first. Then multiple choice. Do a few SIMs but not all of them. Limit time spent on the skils practice (especially the videos).

Perfect is the enemy right now. Just get through the material, then you can go back and practice.

I passed FAR in like 4-4.5 weeks and mostly crammed hard the last 1-1.5 weeks. Skipped some chapters like consolidations, equity method and hedging/derivatives since those concepts haven’t really changed much. I too was not able to reschedule and realized it with about 1 week left when I tried to reschedule and found out my NTS was expiring. I’d say it’s possible in 3 if you are really strong in advanced accounting/fundamentals and generally a good test taker with excellent focus/attention to detail. I passed AUD in about 3.5 weeks but it’s a much easier exam. Pay close attention to the AICPA blue print as it’s very accurate. Good luck!

    Hi guys,

Finally got over with my exam. So relieved was honestly burned out and just wanted to get it over with. Overall I'm doubting I pass this time. FAR is very logical and straight forward. If I didn't remember anything I didn't spend too much time brainstorming and spinning my wheels. Mcq were decent besides the gov/nfp ones. Sims were horrible I feel. Way too many educated guesses. I get my results 2/25 I believe.

Thanks Recked! Trying not to think about it so much. Seriously feeling burned out…need to give myself a break from studying. Just hoping for the best.

When you say you passed in 3.5 weeks or short review period… is that on first attempt? If so, wow and congrats

I only had 3 weeks left to finish the rest of the Becker book, review and take a mock exam. I rushed through ch 8 & 9, didn't review ch 10 and did not attempt any McQ for them besides the examples in the reading. I didn't take a mock exam either. Just used my last week to review what I had covered.

Oh wow. Well, join the rest of us still trying. Take a minute to re-group and evaluate somethings and go at it again. You can do this.

FAR is a beast. Realistically you need 6-8 weeks to pass this exam unless you have a very strong accounting background. You can't cut any real corners with these exams. Put in the time and you will pass. These are not hard tests when it comes down to it. The hard part is the preparation. Good luck!

Yeah I have a good idea what I need to work on. This time around I'm starting with the last 3 chapters and actually going to get through those. Redoing ALL chapters of course, actually practice sims and take a mock. Also going to have a more steady schedule. I felt so rushed.
